We essentially had a three way tie. It was make or break time for Cruz and he pulled it off.

We found out that “shaming” is actually an effective if distasteful tactic. We can all thank Iowa voters for ensuring that the rest of us will end up with this type of crap stuffed in our mail boxes over the next few months.

I would expect that GOPe money will start pouring into the Rubio campaign and he will start gaining ground. We all can look forward to an interesting few months ahead.

Exactly the response I expected from the Donald. And as a Trump supporter I say well done Ted Cruz! You earned it!

The takeaway is how well the outsider candidates did. Cruz, Trump, and Carson absolutely crushed the field.

Just like the huge lead he had in Iowa? I do think he will win NH as they are much more liberal. SC will be the true next battle

It is Iowa. They have not picked a president in many years. You can really see how all the many low lying candidates pared off votes. And what is with Rubio? He won in the populated leftist counties around Des Moine.

If trump could act more like that and still keep his edginess, he would win the whole enchilada.

The RNC and DNC conspired to find the most gullible state in the USA and settled on IOWA.

Its all good. I think Trump is pretty happy to be second. He is going into NH and SC strong. In a week or so Iowa will be forgotten. I feel pretty good about the whole thing.

Go Donald! Take NH! Second place with 5000 votes between is not a big loss. We know they like Huck and Santorum and Cruz type guys.

A classy 2nd place finisher statement. Contrast that with the propped-up puppet Rubio - who place 3rd and made a victory speech.

Yet another reason why I'd be happy with either Cruz or Trump, but would not vote for Rubio.

I have been on FR since January 1998 and have NEVER seen such Nastiness. Attack Trump if you must but remember your guy has a LONG way to go to win the nomination. Trump congratulated Cruz so on to NH.

I have a serious question (series) for Cruz people: do you think he will deport the illegals? Because I think Trump will. If I could be convinced that Cruz or Rubio would be as tough on illegals as Trump I wouldn’t care who won.

Cruz should get a bit of a bump going into NH, but I would be very surprised if he overtook Trump. Cruz has never counted on doing any better than 2nd or 3rd in NH, and I think he will do that without any problem. The one Trump will need to worry about in NH is Rubio. He should get a big bump out of Iowa going into NH, and NH tends to favor establishment candidates. If Cruz gets a mild bump and Rubio gets a big bump, NH could look a lot like Iowa with all three of them within a few points of each other.
