I agree. But when he changes his mind and shows up on Thursday we will all be expected to act surprised and happy. But not me.
Personally I’m hoping he sticks to his guns, sits out the debate, continues to insult the Iowa voters and gets clobbered by Cruz on Feb 1.

Not really. Trump holds all the cards. Fox needs Trump. Trump does not need Fox or another stupid debate. Why should he subject himself to letting Kelly fire gotcha questions at him all night?
If he can make Fox blink, then he is showing us how America should negotiate with other nations. Right now, we walk in prepared to lose and we waste our might on trying to just not lose too bad. He says that we should walk in strong, start strong, and end as a winner.
Negotiations aren’t debates. Debates are just intellectual exercises. Negotiations have a real world output. Beating Fox is much more important than the debate itself.
