Kidnapping could have been the goal, and things got out of hand and Stevens ended up dead.
Either way, the question remained: How did they know he was going to be there? They came armed to the teeth, so they obviously had foreknowledge.
Then I saw this article and read that Hillary’s emails contained Stevens’ schedule and his protection level (or lack thereof), and this other scenario popped into my head.
I’d love to see these emails of Hillary. Were they enough to provide a roadmap for the attack? Remember, she had been warned in 2011 that hackers were trying to get into high-ranking State personal email accounts.
If my scenario is true, it explains a lot: The desperately lame attempt to blame the video to cover up this major security lapse, Hillary’s illness immediately afterward (Stevens was supposedly her good friend), and Obama’s lukewarm defense of her since the whole email story broke.
I spent many years in COMSEC and I see your scenario as the most plausible. The Hillary e-mails surely got the Ambassador “tagged” and killed IMHO.
Well, I went home with the waitress
The way I always do
How was I to know
She was with the Russians, too
I was gambling in Havana
I took a little risk
Send lawyers, guns and money
Dad, get me out of this
