And then there’s Beck swearing Cruz in on a Mormon compass?
You’d think that someone who makes such a big deal about being a Christian would have some... issues with that.
I sure remember the uproar here about Romney being a Mormon, in many cases from the same people who are ignoring this.
I put little faith in any poll this far out, especially from entities who are determined to pick the contestants to their liking.
That being said, I look at the enthusiasm factor along with the crossover factor and I am of a firm belief that Mr. Trump will win handily come the general election.
Mr. Cruz does not come close to delivering either the crossover votes nor the enthusiasm factor.
We’ll see soon enough.
When Ted was first running for the Senate I was a really BIG fan; urging friends and family in Texas to vote for himMANDER IN CHIEF OF . Yes, I feel for the hype.
The more that has come out about him and the more I see and hear him, the less I like him. It has now gotten to the point that listening to him is difficult.
I realize that he is wooing Iowa, but the faux preacher act and the 10th rate Aimee Semple McPherson act is not just a BIG turnoff, but DISGUSTING !
We don't live in a theocracy, we aren't electing a COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF of religiosity, he's coming off as a wannabe Oliver Cromwell and it's too damned much !
If Cruz is the nominee he will whip any possible Democrat candidate in the general. Like a threadbare rug.

Nope.
Sorry, but Cruz has not shown any kind of fighting spirit.
And with his horrendous votes in the Senate—even just three bad votes can taint a candidate forever if they’re bad enough—and his refusal to address the Canadian question—which the Democrats are already filing lawsuits about—he’s not ready. The media would make mincemeat of him because he’s not willing to fight back just as hard and just as dirty.
We obviously move in different circles.
From many of the same people who trashed Romney for BEING a Mormon and Romney never went overboard with the religious stuff.
ALL of them.
No point in wasting bandwidth refuting your cockamamie point of view. You are too deep in the shiggy to save.
There is absolutely NO WAY that Ted can get even 1% of the black and Hispanic votes that Trump already has.
Many millennials find Ted "creepy" or worse...all over the country.
He's NOT getting the disaffected Dems either, nor the blue collar votes, or the women's votes.
If EVERYONE running, in the GOP race, right now, Cruz won't get all of those votes either.
What circle one frequents has nothing to do with a national election, and you should be well aware of that.
The country will be unlikely to take a hard right turn at this point in time. That is not a WAG, but a fact.
Mr. Trump has the appeal to bring our course back towards the center. Changing course in a slow and steady fashion is quite feasible. If our populace can be weaned from the hard left teat it has been attached to over the last 7 years, it would be a good start.
Mr. Cruz appeals to far too few people to win. That’s simply what is blatantly obvious from one of his supporters, myself.
Lying?
Trump has attacked Cruz for failing to capitulate to Hastert & McConnell on the budget surrenders. (1) Promised he’ll “get stuff done” by cutting deals with Democrats. (2) Refused to support any ban on abortions when asked by a reporter which abortions he’d ban, in line with this pro-choice history. (3) Flip-flopped on amnesty, and now promises a touch-back amnesty. (4) Vows to replace Obamacare... with Obamacare? (5)
(1) Rush Limbaugh:
RUSH LIMBAUGH (HOST): My questioning here about the way Trump has gone after Cruz here, calling him a maniac, refusing to work with people in the Senate. The reason I’m focusing on that, folks, because that’s so unlike Trump. I mean, that’s a huge mistake. But on paper it’s a huge mistake. Trump gets away with his mistakes. Such is the bond of loyalty that his support base has for him that he gets away with them. And I don’t think he’s made that many. Don’t misunderstand. But for any of you who are holding out hope that Trump is a genuine conservative. A genuine conservative, even in the Republican field, would not go after Cruz this way. So that just raised a red flag for me, made me somewhat curious. [Premiere Radio Networks, The Rush Limbaugh Show,

(4) As quoted in Newsweek, Eric Trump: “The point isnât just deporting them, itâs deporting them and letting them back in legally. Heâs been so clear about that and I know the liberal media wants to misconstrue it, but itâs deporting them and letting them back legally.”
Donald Trump: I would get people out and then have an expedited way of getting them back into the country so they can be legalâ¦. A lot of these people are helping us ⦠and sometimes itâs jobs a citizen of the United States doesnât want to do. I want to move âem out, and weâre going to move âem back in and let them be legal.
(5) This all sounds exactly like candidate Obama:
Scott Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of. How? How?
Donald Trump: Theyâre going to be taken care of. I would make a deal with existing hospitals to take care of people. And, you know what, if this is probablyâ
Scott Pelley: Make a deal? Who pays for it?
Donald Trump: âthe governmentâs gonna pay for it.
But weâre going to save so much money on the other side. But for the most itâs going to be a private plan and people are going to be able to go out and negotiate great plans with lots of different competition with lots of competitors with great companies and they can have their doctors, they can have plans, they can have everything.
So you're claiming that in the general election Cruz will win N.Y., N.J., Pa., Ct., Mass., and N.H. ?
IN WHICH UNIVERSE ?
Ted will beat the Dem and win in ALL 50 states, according to you?
HOW?
WHY?
PROVE IT !
You're not proving anything; but thanks for playing.
But Tump supporters, it seems, cannot allow themselves to discuss these areas. They respond with attacks and insults.

When I’m insulted, I fight back. Why shouldn’t I?
Okay, let me address this. Here’s the difference between Cruz’s checkered history and Trump’s checkered history.
Trump said things, but he focused on being a businessman. As you can see upthread, if he donated, it was mostly to Republicans and NY politicians. Balance his donations out, and it breaks even, especially if you discount the politicians wetting their whistles donations. And while he made lots of money for himself, he also gave jobs to lots of workers and ensured that people were paid.
Cruz, on the other hand, is on record as voting for cloture on TPA and voting for HB-1s. These took (or in TPA’s case, it enabled the taking of) jobs and money away from American workers and American families.
You don’t know them. You didn’t see them bleed. But Cruz voted to take food from their mouths and to rip clothes off their backs. And why? Hell if I know.
Donald said some unpleasant things.
Cruz actually voted for them.
Which scares you more?
You asked me an absurdity and I answered with one. Nobody can predict the future, but Cruz is the one Republican who consistently beats any Democrat, even this far out.
And he hasn’t even started his general election campaign. people have a tendency to underestimate Ted Cruz. Win or lose, I’m all in. All the other possibilities are pale imitations of the real thing.
Quote where I insulted you.
I’m a Christian minister and chaplain.
I really loved Cruz for a long time. But I don’t trust him any more. I don’t know anyone who flaunts his religion like that who isn’t trying to hide something or worse. They’re either phony and trying to manipulate, or they have extreme narcissism and spiritual pride.
And when it came time to walk his talk on the most important issues in this election, Cruz blinked.
I want to like and trust Cruz. I can’t.
Likewise. Bless your heart.
Amen!
Quote where I insulted you.

You didn’t insult me.
Other Cruz supporters have.
Or people who claim they support him at least; I really think that there are leftist and establishment plants trying to divide us here. Whatever the case, when they do, I’m not going to just sit and take it.
From what I’ve seen this thread, I don’t agree with what you’re saying, but you’re not flinging shit around, and I appreciate that. But when you brought up that Trump supporters were insulting people, I had to point out that the street has gone both ways for pretty much the entire campaign.
