My opinion on the subject is irrelevant, point out, in my examples, where I am incorrect in saying that's what happens.
God is thinking about it, right after He finishes the palm tree forest in Point Barrow.
That was totally uncalled for...and inane.
Jim only puts his foot down when it's down to the last Republican standing.
Jim wants to win.
But this election cycle I have not seen so much PERSONAL vitriol spewed between Freepers.
Just what I've seen is that if one bashes Cruz, Cruz supporters take it personally and bash the person back.
Trump supporters do it too, but not as often or as viciously.
Again, that's just what I've seen and haven't read even half the posts on the subject.
And I just don't get how a person can take an attack on their chosen candidate as an attack on them personally.
I don't know if it's just childish or a pathology.
wow. I do know that Beck is very into the whole old-timey America thing, but that just looks a bit creepy!
No that’s not quite what happened. She didn’t hold out for more, she didn’t want to sell, period. So it ended up in court and she won- so the court (apparently) did decide there was no great public need.
I do know that Beck is very into the whole old-timey America thing, but that just looks a bit creepy!
Be still my heart!
Scuze me, but who died and made you boss, newbie?
Wissa, there is simply no comparison between the Trump Organization, which is about real estate development, hospitality and lifestyle merchandising, and the Goldman Sachs investment banking firm. Look it up on Wikipedia. Trump had a few bad years when the bottom fell out of Atlantic city and Atlanta real estate markets, and also when he built a beautiful resort on the Scottish coastline and tried to get them not to build a windfarm in direct line of sight; otherwise, he builds it and they come — all over the world. By constrast, here is the table of contents from Wikepedia about Goldman Sach’s Controversies alone:
4 Controversies
4.1 Sale of Dragon Systems to Lernout & Hauspie
4.2 Involvement in the European sovereign debt crisis
4.3 Employee’s Views
4.3.1 Greg Smith resignation letter
4.3.2 What Happened to Goldman Sachs by Steven Mandis
4.3.3 Cristina Chen-Oster and Shanna Orlich Lawsuit
4.4 California bonds
4.5 Personnel “revolving-door” with US government
4.5.1 Former New York Fed Chairman’s ties to the firm
4.6 Insider trading cases
4.7 First Quarter 2009 and December 2008 financial results
4.8 Involvement with the bailout of AIG
4.8.1 Firm’s response to criticism of AIG payments
4.8.2 Final AIG meetings on September 15 at the New York Federal Reserve
4.9 $60 million settlement for Massachusetts subprime mortgages
4.10 Abacus mortgage-backed CDOs
4.10.1 2010 SEC civil fraud lawsuit
4.11 Other prosecutorial actions
4.12 Alleged commodity price manipulation
4.12.1 Goldman Sachs Commodity Index and the 2005â2008 Food Bubble
4.12.2 Aluminum price and supply
4.13 Oil futures speculation
4.14 Initial public offering kickback bribes
4.15 Taylor-related civil and criminal cases
4.16 Danish utility sale
4.17 Libya investment losses
Fun video.
Cruz looks very good. Naturally, this is a Cruz highlights video. Other candidate highlight videos may make them look good too.
Still, his statement that he has the back of the police and the American soldier resonates with me. Obama wants to stab them in the back.
"Almost all"? That's just incorrect.
How'd you get so smart, boss?
I try to be an objective person. I try to analyze data before I make conclusions.
I have to say, Cruz is off message, out of sync, somethin’. And yes, it’s wearin’ me out.
You have to picture that an aging resort town with a long history as a family place like Atlantic City doesn't just decide to build casinos overnight. When built, it would change AC from a place that died 6 months of the year to a place with a year-round income stream.
The wrangling over it took years, and required laws to be passed even to allow casino gambling in New Jersey. The casinos employed hundreds as dealers, waitstaff, bartenders, valets, cleaners. security, accountants, bursars, musicians, florists, chefs and cooks, technicians, engineers, on and on. People commuted from Philly and New York to work there.
The lady had plenty of advance notice to read the writing on the wall and develop Plan B; but we all know people who are just self-destructively stubborn and greedy on top of it, with a nice thick coating of moral superiorty and self-righteousness. We see a few in both the Cruz and Trump camps. She tried to get over on all the thousands of people involved in this situation, and she blew it.
Personally, I think gambling is horrible and addictive and a waste of people's money; but the town thought it would save their bacon, and the decisions were made by the entire city council and a raft of state officials, not just the developer.
If your town over a period of years had decided to build a huge entertainment complex next to your block and then began construction for another long period and finally it opened, would you suddenly think it's a big surprise that limousines are crawling around trying to parallell park on your residential street? Or would you expect that the complex should build its own damn limo parking spaces? Oh, except for that lady, wasting taxpayer dollars holding up a process that was years in development involving hundreds of people, not just the builder, Donald Trump.
IIRC, Trump was going through his divorce around that time and if you want my opinion, he was the fall guy for all the local officials that didn't want the blame -- so they let his outsider status and notoriety take the headlines. But it's ludicrous to think he went into another state and just did this on his own to a poor little old lady. It doesn't work that way.
pollywog, individuls say unfortunate things on here. But FR itself didn't crucify Ted or Donald, even though individuals have gone over the line. Jim said on this thread, and probably most of us too -- still supporting both men and hoping one or the other will win; and that if Trump wins, he will give Ted a greatly important post like AG or SCOTUS.
In an election, it's never over til it's over. Anything could happen. That's why both sides need to hold their fire and not slime the other candidates. Either could win. And you don't want to be accused of "crucifying" another Republican candidate with condemnatory disappointment if your favorite doesn't win the primary. The most important race, without queston, is defeating the Democrats in November. Otherwise, we will no longer have a nation to conserve.
FWIW, I worked in the only phone company, Bell System, in the 1960s to get through school. They had the capability then to listen on any phone call without being detected, and at the time, they used it on guys who made sick phone calls to women and talked dirty. A little old lady with glasses sat in our unit with headphones on and a steno pad making transcript notes for the eventual prosecution. But our boss, who was a family friend, told us that the government needed a warrant before the phone company would turn over its records. They would sometimes get a warrant to listen in on criminal activities and national security threats, even then, when hippies were wanting to blow up the Capitol over the Vietnam war.
Like you, I hate the thought of an innocent person being mixed up in an investigation through error. But given the threat of jihad, on top of our virulent left wing in this country, it's just another front in the culture wars. It's always a trade-off between complete independence and security. Freedom isn't free.
He has great potential. But he needs work. That's why his original strategy of teaming with and supporting Trump was the best for him. Four or eight years of Trump with Cruz in a key postion, then run again for President as a fully matured statesman, or take the helm of the SCOTUS. Win-win. But he got above himself.
Well stated.
Concur!
