Some of us get suspicious when religion is used by a candidate to garner votes and says straight out that he is an expression of God’s will. If he got in the White House, would he think his every thought is coming from God?

True. But, TRUMP is not balkanizing the electorate by pandering so emphatically to only the faith base.
TRUMP is taking the entire electorate to school— to school on common sense, while exposing the universal incompetence of our government, across the board.
Cruz is killing his appeal for a general election run.
He is fairly mum on broader issues, and handing off all hard or controversial questions to “states rights”, or to the “Constitutional challenges”, or to only those in his evangelical base.

Yep. And everyone is falling for his religious act as well. How long has Cruz been in the public eye? Three years or so. Until he ran for president, was anyone aware of his steadfast Christianity? Don’t think so. Has he ever gone full on religion on the Senate floor? Has he ever invoked God or Christ in any of his speeches in the Senate? Don’t remember that. So if Ted wants to talk about energizing the body of Christ on the Presidential campaign trail, you’d think he might want to do that in the Senate chamber. Ted is a fraud through and through and another politician that will do or say anything to get elected.

It is a claim implied in this quote:

He did not say, “Vote their values” which would be the logical progression of the thought. The word “our” conflates Christian values with his candidacy.

The burden is on him to show why. I’m supposedly his target audience. Thus far I’m not that impressed, and I’d rather hear plain policy than political variations of ‘name it and claim it’ religiosity.
