Don’t glorify Putin. He is a thug. He is no friend of democracy or freedom.
He is however a strong nationalist leader.
I think you will probably have to get used to the idea of Putin playing a lesser role than you want in defeating ISIS. The Western world will not be dancing to Putin’s tune. Hopefully, Putin will play a constructive role in helping to defeat ISIS, but he will not be calling all the shots. And, he knows that much.
Only Turkey is a member of NATO and Putin had one of his planes shot down. Putin has not retaliated military because he knows that attacking a NATO member carries a price. Like any bully, when you call him, he backs down.
However, with 50% of the population stupid enough to consider a Hillary presidency I see little hope for the future. I am heartsick, I have four living sons and they are the ones who will suffer from this manâs insane nonsense.
Immigration is making the Dems the permanent majority party. We have taken in 35 million legal permanent immigrants since 1990. This does not count the 300,000 to 400,000 anchor babies born each year to illegal aliens. The status quo will ensure Dem dominance for generations. Demography is destiny.
No more American lives for scummy Islamic bastards, period.
As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.
Assad is shia and Erdogan is sunni. I expect that's probably most of it.
So, why does Hussein like Iran but not Assad?
“If I was Turkey, I would beg forgiveness, even though Putin has been goading them.”
Yes, groveling and apologizing always protects your sovereignty and honor and stops bullies. . .just ask obummer. . .
What justifies Islamic Turkey to remain in NATO?
Once it served a strategic purpose, for sites with missiles aimed at the USSR, during the Cold War.
Since that is history only today, it seems Turkey has little in common with Europe. It has more in common with the Islamic Mideast.
Russia has more in common with Judeo-Christian heritage Europe.
Assad and Russia seem to be the defenders of Christians in Syria and in the region, and Turkey is not.
What a mess, and the US has abdicated its traditional leadership role.
If NATO falls apart over the Turkey issue, so be it.
“infringing on our own Alaskan and West Coast air space with both fighter jets and heavy bombers. He has done so on several occasions in the last six months alone. Most notably a large showing of bombers on our West coast on July 4, 2015.”
Penetrating the ADIZ is not violating US airspace. To be technically correct. https://airresearch.com/Pilots/AIM-08/Chap5/aim0506.html
ADIZ is to identify aircraft before they enter US airspace, and flying in an ADIZ without contacting ATC is standard when testing another countries detection systems.
Probing to test our reaction and reaction time, processes and techniques. . .and to send a message that they have not gone away and are “back.”
Wow, a whole tank battalion. Think big, Turkey!
I doubt that would be their intention.
For those that think Russia would mop the floor with Turkey think again. They have the 2nd largest standing army in NATO. Not to mention it’s fairly modern.
No you're not. You're on Obama's side. Assad is a secular leader, if he goes, so does Syria. It will join and become part of the head chopping radicals.
Where did you get the hat?
It would be a turkey shoot.
Russia has dreamed of warm water ports for centuries. Control of the Sea of Marmara has been on their to do list for a very long time.
The size of Turkey’s army isn’t going to save them. If you live in Turkey or have family in Turkey, be afraid. Period. Better yet, leave while you can.
