Isn't that against the Geneva Convention? Not that they'd care much down there, but why brag about it?
Too bad both Russia and Turkey can’t lose.
“Seems pretty obvious Putin was trying to manufacture an incident. Presumably to get US aircraft out of Syria. Now that heâs got a couple of shish kabobâd Russkie pilot martyrs I imagine Russian AA radar will start engaging US aircraft in Syria, etc. Then kenyan will run so fast from Syria it will make your head spin.”
Obama doesn’t want to be in Syria. Putin doesn’t have to kill his own people to push Obama into the backseat.
One Russian soldier was given a gun, his buddy was given 3 bullets. This against fully equipped Germans with tanks and air dominance.
To belittle their winning role is sheer arrogance on your part.
“Too bad both Russia and Turkey canât lose.”
I think they are both losing actually.
“To belittle their winning role is sheer arrogance on your part.”
There’s no need to belittle their role in winning the war. They belittled their own role when they occupied and dominated half of the continent under a perverted and murderous totalitarian government for the next 50 years.

If the USSR had not started to prevail against the NAZIS in Stalingrad in'42', we would not been able to prevail in Normandy in '43?'.
I really just don’t understand the point of the argument. The war started with them making a pact with the Nazis, and begun to turn around when they turned against the Nazis, why in the world should anyone give them credit for anything? They helped cause a mess. They helped end a mess. Then they created a whole new mess all on their own.
Without our aid, the Soviets would have lost the war.
“Winning the Lost War,” by Lawrence Cambria, argues persuasively that the USSR had already pretty well beaten Germany before the US even became involved. Russia nearly lost the whole thing when the Germans were outside of Moscow, but after that, when the Wermacht failed to take Moscow, nothing went well for the Nazis. If Cambria is correct, then the primary result of American involvement was saving Western Europe from the USSR.
Lets give the Kurds their whey.

Yuk, yuk, yuk!
The war was well on the way.
The Nazis had allied with Italy and Japan, who was encroaching on the USSR on its'eastern border tying up their army. The signing to split Poland was a delaying tactic that benefited both the USSR and the Nazis.
Yep. Entire divisions equipped with Ford/Dodge trucks, M2/M3 Lee tanks, M4 Shermans, and British Crocodile, Crusader, and Valentine tanks.
It would have worked out for Stalin, except for one thing, France falling in six weeks, which kept the German and British armies intact. Stalin counted on a western war bleeding the French, German and British armies dry, making it easy pickings for the Red Army, by as early as 1943.

They are actually both allied enemies: Turkey and ISIS, as well as Russia and Iran. More broadly, it’s Sunni vs. Shia.
Really, you can pick your poison here, though the classic position is to want to keep them wrestling, below a real danger level, with each other.
“The problem is who will fill the gap?”
Well, no matter how much Linda and McCain want it to be, it WILL NOT BE a bunch of Islamic Thomas Jeffersons...not going to happen.
