You missed a generation in between, my generation fought Korea and are the ones spaning the hippies and drug creeps.

We will be gone in a few more years, we’re in our 80s and 90s and dying fast.

My parents were a generation that fought WW-2 and most of them are now dead.

The Silent Generation (you and my parents) were generally playing “catch up” your whole lives. Caught between the heroes of the GG, and the hippies it was like you could not catch a break.

The Silent Generation, so far, is the only one not to produce a President. Trump might change that. (I think.)

I recall my grandfather (who was pre-WW2 generation) sometimes uttering some quiet criticisms of the “greatest generation.” He obviously appreciated their sacrifices, and wasn’t very vehement in his negativity. But I do distinctly remember him commenting on how a lot of the guys coming back from the war ‘played around too much,’ and didn’t really honor their family or job obligations to the extent he thought appropriate. A certain laxness towards things he felt important.

Anyway, it was just interesting to hear his perspective, because it wasn’t one you commonly heard, as nobody really wanted to say anything bad about all those who sacrificed and endured so much.
