"What, if anything, is stopping the top 4-5 candidates from bypassing the RNC process and simply scheduling their own debate, in a venue of their own choice, with moderators of their mutual choosing?"
How would they get it on TV??I think they could get A+E Networks to carry it on either A&E or History (or both); Trump and the superPACs could chip in and pay for the time if necessary, which each candidate's ads getting shown during the timeouts.

That audiographic memory really kicked in, didn’t it? Until recently I didn’t realize that he had that gift.
I’d hate to try to win an argument with him. His poor wife.:)

So? The next “Democrat” debate, can we have Rush, Levin and Savage asked the questions? (I had to thrown in Savage in lieu of any other popular conservative to show a little diversity). Like that would ever happen. Why does the RNC go along with the inquisition members of the Press? Don’t they have a choice? Can’t they refuse? Hillary’s people would be outraged if any network allowed a Conservative to ask her questions. I feel Bernie, would not, he wouldn’t care who asked the questions, so long as he could say what he wants.

“By accepting questions as asked, candidates concede the premises upon which those questions are based.”
Precisely! Something the GOPe has conceded almost universally since the departure of Newt Gingrich. While attacking Hillary, Bernie or whomever will become necessary at some point, answers to biased and leading questions should begin with, “First of all, I totally reject the fallacious premise on which your question is based.” In some cases, I might add, “OK smartass,...”

Ted Cruz didn't huddle with strategists during breaks in the debate. He huddled with the VIPs.

Why does the RNC go along with the inquisition members of the Press? The question of the year.

As I’ve been saying, the biggest loser from last night was the mainstream media, and deservedly so.
Jeb was next.

I was impressed that he remembered every BS question and who they were asked of then went down the line and listed them like bullet points. Yup!!

I’m sorry to tell you that A&E and the History Channel are part and parcel of the MSM, just like FOX is part and parcel of the MSM.

Clearly they adore him. I heard a radio interview the other night with, of all people, the gal who used to play Mary Ann on Gilligan’s Island. I loved her for saying what I finally recognized a few years ago: that a good father-daughter relationship is more important for girls/women than a good mother-daughter relationship.

couldn’t agree more. He’s on my radar a lot more after the debate. Trump really did nothing, but people still think he won... http://newsdailynow.com/2015/10/29/debate/ How can they think he won? He literally said the same things we have all heard a lot by now, nothing new.

That's exactly what the MSM is trying to do!....They know he'll kick their asses in any verbal exchange...avoid that at all cost...Watch poor lil perky katie get taken to the woodshed with her line of questioning....her body luggage changes and her smile disappears as she finally realizes it...lol...

It is funny that the moderators ran to Kasic after Cruz’s beat down of them. They knew Kasic would not attack them.
