'nuff said That was then. He's not perfect but smart, articulate and has the experience. He was great in the debates in 2012, my early pick. I don't see anyone better qualified. Plus, he would be So into it! Charge! Think about it, Do you see anyone else who would spin circles around Obama in the Oval Office? Newt's gift of gab is a rare talent. Akin to Cruz. Would be fun to see Obama and Newt square off. Go Newt!
As an aside, watch the dems and MSM spin this as a net negative for the Republicans - "disarray", "they are going to shut the government down", etc. Damn commies. Let's be clear, it will be Obama that will shut the government down - right before Christmas. He already said so. . Grrrr. .
Newt on Hannity now!

Hannity just asked Newt if he would run for Speaker? Newt said he wouldn't get the votes. . "This requires serious thought. . this is a serious sobering time in American History. . If the house conference wanted me to be helpful, I would always be available as a citizen to be helpful. . you show up with
218 votes, I'll talk with you. . the new speaker will have to very aggressive with the media. . the new speaker has to fight. . executive amnesty, I would cut off the money. . people don't understand what closing the government means. . you have to have a willingness to tell the President what you are doing is unconstitutional. . I would cut off funding. ." (I couldn't help thinking, he sounds like Trump. . a Fighter!)
Draft Newt!

That’s not the only problem with Newt. And speaking of shutdowns, Sick Willie snookered him into the AF-One trip to Isreal with Newt thinking they’d have head to head discussions. Instead Willie spent the trip yakking with Mort Zuckerman. So Newt put himself out of reach to the GOP House members for the duration of the trip. Bad enough, but then he compounded his error by complaining to the press immediately after his return. Try to remember the scorching msm attacks and cartoons.
Newt proved then he had no strategic or tactical awareness of the public mugging he had just endured, just busting out because of a bruised ego. Never should have gotten on AF-One.
Newt thinks he smarter than he really is. Excellent academic, good generalist, and speaker, even when spouting nonsense, but not the street fighter we need.

Newt - "Excellent academic, good generalist, and speaker, even when spouting nonsense, but not the street fighter we need." I don't see anyone else that has the experience, smarts and street fighter instincts on the horizon. He sounded great on Hannity. Like I said, he sounded like Trump. . a Fighter. . and that was just with a 10 minute warning. . He should at least sit in on the talks as an adviser and mediator. . If things are in chaos, they might draft him.

Yeah, and he sounded like a fighter the first time around too, except Willie and Pelosi snookered him good, in public.
His ideas always sound great, the problem is his lack of focus on the details and his soft core. Not a real fighter in the arena nor a hard wrangler of his party.
Hell, we have tons of folk on FR that write a good game on the internet.
We disagree on this but I wish you well FRiend.

If the speaker is going to be ANYONE not presently holding a seat in the House, it ought to be
Allen West.
Fix bayonets!

I guess I'm just frustrated that no one will really step up to Stop Obama. You would think there would be 10-20 people just itching to be Speaker to fight Obama, to present our case so to speak.
Even people like Trey Gowdy and Louie Gohmert don't jump at the opportunity. Yeah, I know, they "don't have the votes." Go through the process anyway. . I don't know, I guess I'm just naive. .

We all are Art. The last two congressional elections put the GOP in power in both houses.
Their one job was to at least be a blocking force against the dems. Didn’t expect a roll back but at least they could have forced his veto over and over. Instead they rolled over.
We need a cold hearted warrior this, maybe our last chance.

A source on the hill tells me it’s been common knowledge since 2011. I agree, it hardly seems like something he would be blackmailed over.
