I don’t think there has been significant delays. Major FERC pipelines require a long open season. I haven’t seen schedule changes.

I think if they need to run any new pipe, the land underneath the powerlines provides a perfect route.

Some pipelines are run in Electric Transmission Line Corridors. There are some issues to address like AC mitigation on the pipe. Cathodic Protection systems need specific voltage control to prevent corrosion of the pipe. Currents can be induced on the pipe that become safety issues.

It just comes down to cost, right-of-way versus required additional equipment and the never-ending maintenance of that equipment.

Here’s an overhead view of a 3,750MW natural gas combined cycle plant that FPL built in the past 6 years. They put it next to an existing substation. I don’t think they had any problems getting natural gas to it.

No problem for the Gas.

I was part of a major Expansion of Florida Gas Transmission many years ago, back in the day of Crooked "E".

I knew a guy who did some work for them. He said they used first class resources related to the job he was doing.

There is chatter that Iowa Governor Branstad is less than enthusiastic about the pipe.

Branstad won’t stop Bakken oil pipeline through Iowa

Gov. Terry Branstad is rejecting pleas from a coalition of Iowa community and environmental activists who asked have him to block plans for a North Dakota crude oil pipeline that would cut diagonally through 18 Iowa counties....

Branstad spokesman Jimmy Centers said Tuesday the governor won’t get involved in the Iowa oil pipeline debate. Branstad is an outspoken supporter of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would bring Canadian crude oil to the United States....
