Interesting. Two countries with the fewest number of millionaires are Haiti and Bangladesh. I don’t think that just pure correlation.
I agree that employers have to be able to sell products, but the startup capital has to come from somewhere, and it’s rarely a poor person. True, it can happen, but the poor have to raise capital from somewhere and it ain’t from another poor person.
If you really want to start a tax revolt, stop having employers taking out all taxes from their paychecks. Instead, give each worker their full income and then require them to write a check to all of the federal, state, and local taxing entities and watch the crap hit the fan. As it is now, people don’t really “see” how much they are giving away in taxes.
Tell me about it. When I was teaching at a university, I used to debate a Sociology prof who, as you might guess, was so far left she made Marx look like a Reagan Republican. During the debate, she’d ultimately paint herself into a box from which there was no escape and the only answer had to be “You’re right.” But no, every time it was the same answer: “Well, that may be, but I don’t believe it!” and she would storm out of my office. I might as well have been talking to a fence post.
The fence post would have been better. It would have at least had the good sense not to argue back.
You tell me about that... I wish all the sheeple had to write the same checks every quarter that I write.
EITC started under Reagan.
Yes but W expanded it. It should go away.
The idea was a good one. It was based on Milton Friedman’s negative income tax idea. But it was supposed to only go to those working and was meant to replace ALL welfare programs.
