The article has actually nothing to do with Joel Osteen. Read the author’s reply to a reader’s comment about the picture
You are correct. I agree with the article, but it should apply to all tax exempt organizations. And I don’t think tax exempt organizations should be able to for. PACs to make political donations with their tax free dollars, including unions.
Televangelists are kind of like Obama— can’t stand them, but at the end of the day they have what they have because really dumb people believe their bullcrap.
I remember the day my mom quit sending donations to Pat Robertson after seeing video of the obscenely opulent interior of his home.
lol.
good point.
This is not any particular denomination, heck I bet this happens in non-Christian religions too.
People forget that the message is what is important, these messengers are just a human like them and are as flawed as anyone.
Good for your mother. They are nothing but charlatans
...You once told me or something close.
They might have the right to police secular dishonesty, but they should simply butt out when it comes to claims of “intangible religious benefits” as the lingo goes today.
Otherwise this is a sure invitation to jump out of the frying pan into the fire.
True. But private jets? Homes the size of football stadiums? Solid gold plumbing fixtures? When there are so many needy out there in the flock something just ain’t right.
Full disclosure: I’m Catholic, and we have the Vatican. So we are far and away the worst offenders on this.
Sure there are lots of poor people.
Do you know if these ministries are helping the poor?
All the focus of the wealth these pastors have seems to me like Coveting which is a sin.
Also, it does take money to run a television ministry.
And these preachers write books and make investments. Assuming all their wealth comes from donations is faulty.
*Eye roll*
Unfortunately for them they desire a temporary 4D creation, and that's all they're gonna get.
Um...there is a vast chasm between poor and what these frauds are.
Me- how do you know they are frauds. Do they deny John 3:16?
A camel and a needle eye come to mind.
Me- So Christians should reject capitalism. Be poor. Is that what it means to be a Christian?
Personal earthly wealth should be a secondary thing, always viewed as a tool and not as a cushion of fundamental comfort. Amassing gold Mercedeses and the like as a demonstration of “look what God can do” is a spiritually risky thing. (Though God has done things like that before. Check out Solomon’s reign in the Old Testament.) Absolutely verboten, no. And the Good Book says that the rich should be generous. Hand-up programs are better in that regard than hand-out programs.
I'd give them some cred if their mansions were housing the homeless and their Cadillacs were actual meals on wheels.
Tell you what, send us your love offering of $25 or more and we'll not only pray for you but even send you a prayer towel.........Tune in next week for our next sermon - and keep your wallet on hand. Amen brother........
Peter Poppoff is back, even the amazing Randy cannot kill these lying bastards off.
Randy had recordings of his wife’s radio communication to his wireless ear piece. Does that stop the network from airing his program?
Nope.
Some of these stations would have sold air time to Hitler.
I’d give them some cred if their mansions were housing the homeless and their Cadillacs were actual meals on wheels
how do you know these preachers aren’t doing alot of charity. you’re making an assumption that their wealth means they aren’t helping the poor.
Here. I'll do it for you, I know you're busy. ...eye roll back at ya. :)
I can't wait for the IRS to go after Planned Parenthood.
Not like they ever will. Just saying.
