Or like Mike Wazowski said in Monsters, Inc. "Once you name it, you start getting attached to it.....Now put that thing back where it came from...or so help me!"
Granted. But your statement (in itself... I realize you will see this) misses the fact that one who never hunts will accept the fantasy of Bambi in ignorant bliss - I know that Bambi is fantasy, because my fingers are in the dirt, and in the blood. I can enjoy the story, without any chance of creating a dichotomy in my mind between the story and IRL. I can (and always have been able to) walk right out after watching the show, and butcher a chicken for supper.
And that dichotomy, present even in a surprising number of 'rugged individualist' FReepers, is exactly the disconnect from reality that generates this emoting over the lion - You will note in the OP that the natives on the ground there do not share in this angst... Because they KNOW what a lion is, and they know what it takes to wrest food from the earth while competing with, and protecting oneself from lions... Meat does not start as hamburger in white styrofoam trays with a neat plastic wrapper. And those natives know that truth even as I do.
Personally, I think it might work better, for example, to use The Planned Parenthood Nightmare Series currently playing like a sail, tacking tactfully into that wind to move something important together in the right direction.
Again, the same disconnect - Population control in ancient times was a sacrifice to an evil god - Children, largely a product of religious drug driven orgies, were caused to 'pass through the fire'... The sterile environment and white coat professionalism of abortion is exactly the same sort of disconnect from reality as the as the hamburger served up on sterile white styrofoam in a neat plastic wrapper - It is a sacrifice to an evil god, all the same. Just gussied up and prettified to support the lie, and to remove the nastiness from view. If anything, those ancient people were more honest - they watched the child committed to the fire, by their own hand. This generation would not have the belly for that - preferring their evil deeds to be one step removed. Plausible deniability for a warped mind...
So, in situations like this, arguing against emotion is like spitting into a wind that soon turns into a hurricane. None for me, thanks, but hey, if that's what you're into...
Sorry, but sometimes folks just need a slap upside the head to rattle their brains back into alphabetical order - If that falls to me to do so, then so be it. But the very same disconnect would have me branded an 'abuser' just for saying so...
My second point is also agreeing with you that nothing short of SHTF is going to change those feelings as they are generally applied by the general population today.
Boy, and how! The lie runs very, very deep. Thanks for your reply.
And yet they feel outrage about Cecil.
Fight with it if you want to, but that emotion can be used as a bridge over that now implausible deniability to their understanding the horror/reality show Planned Parenthood is putting on, and all without a shot being fired. Basic sales 101.
Otherwise, as a stand alone discussion, I agree with you about the disconnect.
Thanks for taking the time to explain!
Lol, that's it. Otoh, my writing sucks, like how I screwed up what you copied.
About not naming what you eat, I should have said: "It's not a mistake you make twice as a kid until you outgrow it."
Then you tease each other about it.
If a society has an age of maturity the same as people do, then we, the American people, seem to be stuck in some form of societal arrested development.
As to blame, the Common Core cult school system and its buggy programming are my best guesses.
We visited relatives with the kids and she had a “pet” calf she named Norman. Stayed by the house with the green grass - kids got to ride him, etc. (All the other cattle were on the range).
A year or two later we visited. When we got there she had dinner almost all ready. While we were eating, my daughter was wondering where Norman was.
“You’re eating him!”
pause
My son “He’s delicious!”
Thanks for your kind reply.
Shabbat Shalom.
Lol, that’s how it’s done! Ah...the memories.
Shabbat Shalom.
Because a huge number of Americans are complete morons.
