Thanks RKBA. I am back, but I need to do some things. Will definitely respond to you postings later...
Just out of interest, notice that I was called a LUNATIC, etc, for talking about Trump being locked out/cheated out of the Convention by RINOS. Now, we find out, that these SAME RINO’s, are working to undermine him during the debates. Hmmm, someone wasn’t so crazy, huh?
Oh, and also notice, over those Trump supporters who never listen, that SOMEONE (and there are a few others on here) TOLD everyone that Trump couldn’t be trusted. WATCH him go 3rd Party (even if it hurt Cruz). Well, he flipped on that today too.
Today’s heresy is tomorrow’s orthodoxy. Unfortunately, the heretics that make the future orthodoxy possible are usually forgotten. Or burnt at the stake.
As someone who has been known to, oh, dabble in heresy from time to time, a word of advice: every now and then the witch hunters get a witch. Be savvy and be there to fight another day.
As for the second party thing, I think Trump and indeed any candidate of worth is wise to refuse the “battered wife” pledge. It goes like this: I pledge to support the party regardless of what they do to me, and regardless of whatever knucklehead it nominates.
Screw that!
I think Trump was wise to play the second party card. It will result in the attack dogs being chained a bit. Not a whole lot, though. Unfortunately the gop is just fine with piaps winning. But then again, looks like the hard left is having some fun in the form of bernie sanders. If the old marxist starts winning in the polls, you’ll see a whole new attitude from the gop. “Yessir Mr. Trump, is there anything we can do for you Mr. Trump?”
Yep,
I am posting under another thread...my name is papertyger. Look up my posts ;-)
Ok, to pick up where we left off since I have some time this morning...
I understand what you are saying about Trump and his wealth. But, it would REALLY say something (and I will copyright this idea for his campaign) to say that since he is so wealthy, he won’t ask for tax payers to pay his salary, his planes, vacations, etc. It would be YUGE. Then, say something like he will use that amount to pay off the debt, or something...who knows, he is smart, he’d figure it out. It would go a long way to helping him though.
You talk about Trump maybe having reservations about taking out Obama. While it is hard to beat an incumbent, the RIGHT candidate could have beaten Obama. We hear about how Trump is “waking up the Conservatives”...well, that is partly why Romney lost. Conservatives stayed home. If Trump had been the force then, that he is now, Newt or someone might have won...or, at least for the campaign, he might have forced Romney to the right. It is just interesting that now he is running against someone who “was a friend” just a short time ago (Hillary).
You are right...Cruz is responsible for his campaign and I trust he knows what he is doing. But a large portion of the praise for Trump on this page is how he is taking out the RINO’s. I haven’t seen it (none of them are affected). They say he is clearing a path for Cruz...maybe. But, at least for the short term, he is sucking the oxygen out of all campaigns, but it is hurting our conservatives more than the others. Jebs people won’t support Trump, so he will get the moderate vote period. Just my opinion.
Maybe he lit a torch under the politicians. McCain still hasn’t moved on Veterans issues and if I think I know McCain, he is a VITRIOLIC, HATEFUL person. I think, for the betterment of his own ego, he will essentially hold veterans issues hostage until Trump is gone or until he is defeated in elections. I see Cruz taking action on some issues, but by and large, even with the outrage, politicians (not some govs, but Congress) is doing nothing.
I agree about defeating the other RINO’s first, but attacking McCain, for instance, isn’t doing that. Going after Linda Graham isn’t doing that. Again, he needs to focus like a laser on guys like Bush and Rubio. Again, people on here are fawning over Trump for attacking the WRONG people...yes, McCain deserved blow back for his comments...but for 3 days, we heard nothing but McCain stories. Mac isn’t running. I don’t think the American people or voters care what McCain says or does. And, to your point, if he has to take out his competition, how long until he turns on Cruz?
The discipline thing reminds me of Hillary. The guys on Glenn Beck (the brief part I heard) made fun of Hillary for essentially going off of her rocker and shrieking. I think, if the buttons are pushed the wrong way, Trump will do the same.
So, if Trump sells, is that a good thing for the party? If Trump really wanted to do what he says...and if he sells, then instead of attacking McCain, etc, he should SCREAM from the rooftops about other issues affecting his country. He could be, if he wanted, the BEST voice we have had in awhile. But, I am not sure he knows where he stands. I think the media will want him on stage ONLY to see what he says/does. They think he is a side show...one with clout right now, but a side show. I think we make a BIG mistake holding him up as some type of savior.
You have been much improved in behavior.
If you wish to ask questions to me again, I will respond with answers.
LOL...
Yeah, I bet you will respond with answer. I haven’t been better, I have been engaged with someone who wanted conversation as opposed to knee-jerk name calling...
Speaking of jerk, have you been better?
Never mind.
Come on, you missed me...
Who else could you call names and report to the moderator?
Miss ya too, btw. Anywho, feel free to join in the conversations we have ongoing...I honestly would like your input.
I might have to piecemeal, but will try to get to all your points. Thank you by the way for some provacative ideas
“But, it would REALLY say something (and I will copyright this idea for his campaign) to say that since he is so wealthy, he wont ask for tax payers to pay his salary, his planes, vacations, etc. It would be YUGE.”
A good idea. How bout take it a step further and instead of refusing a salary, take it all and donate it to a charity. Say for veteran’s advocacy or for victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens. Heh heh.
” You talk about Trump maybe having reservations about taking out Obama. While it is hard to beat an incumbent, the RIGHT candidate could have beaten Obama.”
That might be true. However, we don’t really know why he chose not to run. I haven’t taken the time to go back and look at whatever his excuse was at the time. My personal speculation is that it was a combination of factors, many of which were personal. One thing that has come out is more info on his finances. My gosh, what a freaking gordian knot! I think there is a very good chance he wasn’t ready to hand it over yet.
“It is just interesting that now he is running against someone who was a friend just a short time ago (Hillary).”
I think that DT has “friends” like other people have goldfish. I just don’t put much truck in this idea that he’s running as a sort of trojan horse for Piaps. Why go through the grief, the loss of income, the daily fighting, the schedule...just to throw it. This is piaps we’re talking about. Not mother Teresa.
“They say he is clearing a path for Cruz...maybe.”
Similarly, I put little truck in that idea, either. The only person that DT is clearing a path for is DT. If TC is an unintended beneficiary of that well so be it, but I think that is at best a tertiary consideration for DT.
“i see Cruz taking action on some issues, but by and large, even with the outrage, politicians (not some govs, but Congress) is doing nothing.”
Same as it ever was. It would take outrage and a torch and pitchfork brigade banging on their office door to get those kleptocrats to do anything useful. If then. Hence the attractiveness of DT to so many.
“....first, but attacking McCain, for instance, isnt doing that. Going after Linda Graham isnt doing that. Again, he needs to focus like a laser on guys like jebito.”
I think his strategy right now is to cause the controversy which gains the attention which allows him to focus on a point of general consensus. Mcinsane and linda are just the useful idiots. It’s still early. He has plenty of time to focus on the real opponents. Also, jebito has some pretty good advisors. I’m sure they’re doing everything short of duck-taping his mouth shut to keep him from responding to DT..
“And, to your point, if he has to take out his competition, how long until he turns on Cruz?”
If both DT and TC are still in the running after Florida, which I strongly doubt, then thinks get more like the movie “Highlander.” Frankly I don’t think anyone but jebito is there much past FL. I hope I’m wrong.
“The discipline thing reminds me of Hillary. The guys on Glenn Beck (the brief part I heard) made fun of Hillary for essentially going off of her rocker and shrieking. I think, if the buttons are pushed the wrong way, Trump will do the same.”
Quite possible. Perhaps even likely. The process tends to weed the hotheads out. We’ll see.
Gotta go for now.
OOO, I like he veterans or illegal alien thing. Great idea. Now, I don’t want to give Trump ideas as I am a Cruz guy, but he should that. Heads would explode.
What was the issue with the finances and is he ready to hand it over yet?
As for Hillary, why not? Trump values loyalty and I am sure the Clintons have been loyal. I know people talk about his loss of income, but I am not sure he is really losing that much. My bet is that the companies that left will do what they did with Rush...beg to come back. I think his ego will keep up with the schedule. I am not sure he will intentionally throw it, but it tells you something when he says he “has some Democrat ideas” and he flip flops on running 3rd party (which would give Hillary the win).
I don’t think he is clearing the path for Cruz...but he did donate to his PAC and they did do lunch. My gut feeling, though, is that Trump has run his course, or will soon...and, with the display on the Senate floor, that Cruz will start picking up momentum.
I understand why Donald is going after them, and like many, I am glad he is. But, I am not sure he isn’t just doing it for show or for ego without any real policy conviction. Shapiro on Breitbart said virtually the same thing.
More to the point, if he REALLY wanted to take out McCain, then WHY considering funding ANOTHER opponent for McCain in 201? We have a good one there, if we add more, Mac will win.
Jeb doesn’t need to respond to Trump...but Trump could HAMMER Jeb on illegals...it is low hanging fruit. But, he is too busy attacking the eye glasses of Gov. Perry.
I don’t think Jeb will win FLA. Both Cruz and Trump have the money to take it further if they want to. I just don’t buy the strength of Jeb.
Ok, thanks for responding. Let me know if you have more questions about the things posted...
I am interested to hear your take on Trump’s recent flips on immigration, etc...
you might want to watch TCs speech today if you haven’t already. Epic. Beyond outstanding.
Thanks! I have it pulled up now. I am watching it.
That should ERASE ANY need for ANY Freeper to support Trump.
We have the man who can get it done...his name, Ted Cruz.
I disagree, however I do think it was an outstanding speech. Credit where credit is due. The best parts were at the end.
It was great...
Look, Cruz means what he says...he has the past to back it up. Trump does not.
However, both men and even Rand today, have staked out their territory against the Turtle....that is good.
Fair enough. We can agree to disagree on the relative merits of the candidates. There is plenty of time for them to show us what they got. I think it’s better at this point for there to be a lot of red meat flying. More consrvative candidates mean more chance they’re ripping into the uniparty and its kleptocrats.
What did junior do? I didn’t catch it. I suspect he’s the third leg of the stool.
Unfortunately Carly doesn’t seem to be on board yet. Too bad.
I assume by Junior you mean Randnesty?
He introduced some good legislation last night. He is still squirmy but it is a start.
At least the majority of RINO’s running (minus Bush) are not even registering yet. Christie, Graham, etc are so low it doesn’t matter. I’d say Carly isn’t a Conservative either.
Trump ain’t Conservative though...at least his track record doesn’t prove it. Anyone with “Democrat views” isn’t a Conservative.
Just my opinion, I think Cruz took a big step yesterday to regaining some momentum. We shall see.
BTW, off topic a bit...
Levin asked Cruz yesterday if ANY of the candidates running had called Ted and said great job or we stand with you for what you did on the Senate floor...
Cruz said NONE of them has. I found that interesting because for as LOUD as Trump has been and for as many times as Cruz has backed him, Trump apparently didn’t do the same.
