I watched the video (fascinating) and read the articles. Was aware of the open source movement but not quite the implications as discussed.
Where I think this goes as it relates to politics is open source and/or privatizarion as a substitute for governmental services on a micro scale. With a healthy amount of chutzpah tossed in.

Water will be harder to find in global cooling. Less rain. Wheat producing regions will produce less. Warming sure was nice while we had it. Our population levels peaked. More water. More food. And these globalist tyrants want to end all that.
I have a great deal of faith in people’s ability to innovate and adapt. Left to our own devices, we’ll be fine. The problem is, the politicians won’t leave us to our own devices.
Famine used to be a environmental issue. Not any more. Famine is a political problem. More specifically, food is used as a weapon by politicians. The Soviet Union was infamous for it. Access to water is much the same thing. There is something about political leadership that causes people to check their consciences at the door.
But we’re outnumbered on all sides now.
Millions of Catholics just joined the rebellion. And unfortunately the gay marriage decision will led millions of Americans to join ISIS. They will be misguided, but their frustrations will led them to it. What the US has coming is a nightmare. Obama says we cannot upset Muslims by calling them terrorists, but he just made America the number one Target for Jihadists.
