Thx ... was unaware MC launched special ops unit. I hate to see the Corps start fragmenting itself.
I suppose there may be a need for special ops, but what is they provide that Recon couldn't?

Several reasons for a MARSOC. Special Operations requirements are growing and will continue to do so.

SOC has their own funding line and the Marines have been missing out on the dollars and the technology advances that exist in SOF.

The Ranger Regiment has been a source for top quality senior non commissioned officers and officers for the rest of the Infantry. The Raider battalions will do the same for the Corps.

For a long time, I’ve viewed and listened to Kirby both in uniform and out.
And, with 2 years on an Admirals Staff (ComServGru3), I know my admirals.

All those times, I said to myself “I don’t know exactly why, but I don’t like that little weasel”.
