Once things get going in earnest Cruz will get the full brunt of every news story, every night intentionally misstating, spinning and outright lying about something he said or did.

It’s not an impossible hill for him to climb, and every other candidate will have to deal with it too, but it is part of the campaign that Republicans simply haven’t found an effective strategy to combat.

Did you ever ask yourself why TPP was brought to the forefront at this particular time?

The proposed TPP agreement began in 2005.... and has been ongoing since that time....this has come now as political fodder for both sides.

It will take til the next Presidency for TPP to instituted....Republicans ‘for it’ want this time NOW so they can orchestrate how it will play out before their in office......the Democrats know full well they have an uphill climb in winning next year and they aren’t about to hand this over to the Republicans. Obama however wanted to see this under his belt before leaving office as his “glorY” marker.

TPP will go thru...it’s just both parties are playing this with next year in mind.......and that’s how most are voting or opposing...and those who who want to retain their elected seats will play it according as well.

It’s really not about the people per say...it’s about getting what we can for our country and setting it up before the next election....because this has magnifold International trade consequences...both good and bad for all countries involved....we want the best which is why i want to see it pass sooner rather than later....this gives our guys time to tweak it.

“Free Trade” does not require an 800-page agreement, especially one that sets standards for health care, immigration and other social policies — let alone a “living agreement” that can be amended by its own supra-national governing body without further consent of the individual nations that will have already signed on to it. Senator Sessions is right — TPP has been kept secret for good reason.

TPP a “living agreement”?

That particular phrase—a foolish and misleading way to put it—is found in the “summary” portion of one particular section of the draft agreement. That section allows member nations to amend the agreement in the future, expressly subject to the approval of their governments. Thus, if some amendment were proposed in the future, Congress would have to approve it before it went into effect......

None of the other candidates could give a clinic on how to handle stupid media questions even if they wanted to. Cruz will hold his own and then some. He has mastered the art of attracting media attention, turning interviews into debates and generally handles the press in a very substantive way. I’m not worried in the least.

That particular phrase—a foolish and misleading way to put it...

Your condescension is less than charming. "Living document" is exactly how Senator Sessions described the classified draft after three readings, so your "foolish and misleading way to put it" is actually directed at him. Personally, I want to know more before supporting such a sweeping and secret international agreement, and as a Conservative I believe that "No" is the prudent default position. What interest underlies your intense desire for TPP's passage?

You have a wonderful Humble Opinion.

I have begun to know which posters repeat their complaints about Ted. So, I have begun to look at the posters names before reading the content of the post. Certain ones, I just scoot past, certain ones I read because they are not depressing.
I gave you (an unknown) a chance and was very pleasantly surprised.

....”What interest underlies your intense desire for TPP’s passage”.....

I wouldn't call it ‘intense desire’ by any means, rather an understanding ‘why’ it needs to pass before the next election... would be better said... It's a matter of giving our representatives the best timing and position to do with it what needs doing of....especially the time to do so ‘before’ it's ‘implemented’ fully, which won;t be til the next election with all the hoops it will have to go through beforehand... Because whoever wins is going to have to hit the ground running and I don't want to see us grabbling with this then....

As for Sessions he is a good man but certainly could care less what's directed at him from my perspective... as with others he's not always correct in his presentation....and he like others has skin in this game.

You should be. Again, this isn’t strictly about Cruz - he’ll handle it better than the others but it applies to them too.

The media will take things out of context intentionally. They will outright lie (fake but accurate), they will create controversy over nothing and make it sound like the end of the world.

And people will believe them. Not you and me or most of the people here on FR but a lot of people will. Millions, in fact.

With the internet and talk radio we still have small outlets but we simply do not have the same size microphone as those attacking us do. When you’re talking national elections that matters. A lot.
