It really is hard for me to understand why soccer is so popular in the rest of the world. I have tried a couple of times to understand it.

It really is boring as all get out.

Frankly, if I’m traveling and relaxing in front of a TV I’ve found cricket and rugby or sumo more entertaining to watch than soccer. One has the leisurely pace of baseball but with tension as the side batting second tries to surpass the score of the first. And the other two have some of the violence of American football. Can’t watch more than five minutes of soccer without becoming bored.

Got into a discussion with a fan many years ago. He mentioned “football”. When I determined what he was actually talking about I said: “Oh! Soccer. Yeah, my little girl plays that.” (He didn’t find it amusing in the least.)

Soccer is the sport of gays, lesbians, and terrorists.

I played soccer, football, basketball, baseball, wrestling in high school.. the only time I had butterflies was at the beginning of the football game. Wrestling g was second in intensity.. football is the best organized sport.

I will admit, I have found the English Premiere League compelling, as it has the best athletes, and the quality of play is extremely high.

Plus it’s on at 8AM when it has no competition.

The AA Pittsburgh Riverhounds.....not so much.

Because cheering for a game that often ends in a 0-0 just feels right.

Really?

I wanna cheer for two teams to lose?

Retarded game and I lettered in Soccer, as the goalie, in high school.

Boring game amd the Aztec version of Ullamaliztli would much more fulfilling to watch.

Soccer is about as exciting as seeing your sister in a bikini.

I think basketball is the only major sport that totally originated in the US. Golf came from Europe, baseball was derived from cricket, and American football derived from rugby.

Soccer in no longer a new thing here, and - while I have some complaints about the US version being overly imitative of Europe (with many British announcers, European-style chanting, and team names like Real Salt Lake) - I don't see why people should be so hostile to it.

Some people find NASCAR boring, some people find American football boring, some people find baseball boring, some people find golf boring. So don't watch soccer if you find it boring, but don't gripe about those who enjoy it.

Watching soccer players fall down and wince in fake pain is just to much to take.

Make the goal as wide as the field and add a few more goalies and it might be interesting.

I have friends that are into it and they try to get me into it but they have failed. I have no problem that they like it. It is their thing and that is cool.

hockey is a more exciting superior product than soccer. If a person likes a game similar to soccer, why wouldn’t they just watch hockey? I doubt soccer will ever catch on in the united states.
