Oh yes we did. And if you wrote over it the teacher gave you a bad grade for it. You see not only were we taught penmanship, we were also taught to keep everything in order. Also we had to use fountain pens, the ones you had to fill with ink, like this one

I can see the value in using a pen for math. I would cause a student to be more careful and thoughtful.

I’ve seen few school board candidates offer more than the staus quo: “helping” the children, spending more money, etc. Most spend their time trying to avoid law suits.
