What they should do, is make this a reality show...like the Bachelor. With each of the candidates going about their business...running their campaigns, doing the work they do, etc. People can see behind the scenes of what the lives are like for each of these individuals and how hard (or not) they work for their constituents.

Then every week, they have a call in vote from the public (like American Idol, etc, except you can only vote one time per voter ID #) and one candidate gets voted off, until it narrows it down to 5 candidates, who will then vie for the GOP nomination.

I mean, hey, if we’re trying to be up in today’s world and get the low info/non info voter...why not?

Much fewer than 10 and you would risk Cruz not even making it into the debates.

It won’t be a debate, it will be a joint news conference.

No Ted Cruz = big trouble
Agreed.

But Fox is the GOPe cable news mouthpiece and, IMO, would like nothing better than to prevent Conservatives from gaining traction.

Not saying it will happen but nothing would surprise me after the Mississippi debacle.

Yes, if Trump really is running, and announces, he’s gong to be included.

No one else knows how to make that happen better than Trump.

True true. I have made clear that I am no fan of Cruz, but I do want him in the debates. He has earned it.

Great...polling and MSM will decide who we get to hear.

Does not matter. Cruz will be on top and all the other ones will be doing the ol Blah blah blah routine...

Yep, and not good if they rig the poll so that Cruz is knocked out but Bush stays in..Oh yeah, I can see how this is going to work out.

If you can't crack the top ten why should you be allowed to be on the debate. I could decide to run for President. Should I be included?

What if you're the best candidate, but you don't get a chance to get your message heard because Jebby and the rest of the RINOs had more money than you, more name recognition, and thus got on the early top 10 according to the results of Polls done by the MSM.

Shouldn't you get a chance to be on the first debate, at least, and not automatically marginalized?

That’s the reason small states like Iowa and New Hampshire are allowed (for now) to go early. A candidate doesn’t need $20 million or MSM media backing to get attention.

My idea is to have a debate bracket. Two candidates face off at a time, and the winner (determined by combination of random surveys on-site and telephone (if televised)) advances to the next level. Yeah, someone could get shafted, but these are the early days. At least this way, a lesser-known candidate could get some exposure if he debates especially well.

So a hundred candidates at 1 minute a piece would give us what insight?

In this day of mass-media/internet, does anyone REALLY believe a televised sound-bite factory will suffice?

Is there not enough electrons for YouTube/etc. to host a multitude of debates, from each candidate, where the war of ideas reign supreme?

Unfortunately, I think (even by most here) the standard reply of “Me too, but here’s how *I’d* do it (miniscule) different” play out better.

SOMEHOW, competition is great...unless it’s for the highest office in the land; then, and ONLY then, should it be a popularity contest of make-up/looks and blurbs

And we rag on the Left for ‘low-info voters’...

What do you want to bet that Cruz does not make the cut. The media will do anything to cut him out.
