From your book:
“At a month and a half or so, it sometimes seemed that the plan was in danger of falling apart. I asked Dennis about it in private, but he appeared unworried. Its all part of the action-reaction calculus. It was all taken into account. We needed them to react. Were in the second phase. We smoked them out into the open with phase one, and now we can go get them. Why do you think we bought billions of bullets for the DHS? Why do you think we paid for SWAT teams and armored cars in every Podunk town in America? Weve been getting ready for this moment for years.
You knew this would happen? A civil war?
He said, Its not a civil warits a police action against criminals and domestic terrorists. But dont worry: were ready. Now that theyre shooting at us, we can take the gloves off. The first two thousand arrests were just priming the pump. This phase will let us finish the job once and for all. Think about it: even now, nobody knows what happened to the first two thousand, or even that there were two thousand. In a month, nobody will remember if they were arrested before the shooting started, or after.
Exactly what I think is in the works. Except I think the left underestimates the opposition so the outcome is in question.
Mist really good historical/political fiction has a strong basis in reality. It just hasn’t happened yet.
Great job, Travis.
If folks enjoy 1/4-million word novels, great, but most folks don't have time. Or they don't enjoy my writing style, I understand that. Hence my short stories and photo-memes. It's my attempt to reach more people.
Along with "What I saw at the coup," I hope that folks will read this one, if they read nothing else I've written:

Alas, Brave New Babylon 60-second Youtube trailer

I gave that one a happy ending, but it could go the other way just as easily.
It’s a very, very corrupt little town in NJ. I believe it was a member of the city council who got the anonymous caller to make the call. The police didn’t investigate because they were part of the set-up.
Conservative thought, apparently.
hehehe
It made my friend, who was a retiring sort, a frightened broken man. And he is a good man, too. I beg him to move away, marry his long term girlfriend and start over.
“On the remaining internet the threats multiplied as pictures and videos were shared and commented upon by millions. Remember your oath was a common theme. That whole tired shtick about defending the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic, with a heavy emphasis on domestic. All of that reactionary claptrap. Who knew that so many of them took that oath so damned seriously? Who knew? Mere words on paper, and yet, so many Americans were willing to kill and to die for them. Who knew?”
You had me laughingly and smiling ;)
I think the left is so arrogant, they don’t consider that they could be wrong or have underestimated what people with principles will do - or what people without principles will do, such as their allies when attacked.
Liberalism is full of unintended consequences.
He should listen to you.
I will have to start reading Matt Bracken. Thanks.
Hope Scott Walker at least knows about these illegal politically motivated home invasions. IMO they’re getting away with it because right now none of the participants have to worry about getting shot.
“very, very corrupt little town in NJ”
Being a little bit redundant there, are we?
:-)
Yeah, that really sucks. Not just for your friend but also in the larger context of my other post.
The sad thing is that the good gave into the evil and made evil more powerful....
The Left underestimates what people, with or without principles, will do when backed far enough into a corner where they believe they have nothing left to lose.
The response of the passengers on Flight 93 is an example.
I dont think so...I’ve crunched the numbers....not even the Imperial japs were foolish enough to try and invade with a full army.
Remember this fact...it took months to clear out 5000 jihadi assclowns from ONE city in Iraq...and that was with amror and air support and motivated troops.
There are well over 200 million armed Americans is possession of over 300 million weapons.
Even using your figure of 20 million pissed off Americans...that is only 10% of the force available
There are only just over 2 million on the entire federal payroll.....and that includes clerks and paper pushers.
Cops?
I live in a city of 250,000 and there are 700 cops spread across three shifts.
And what happened during the LA riots?
The cops all got off the streets and hid in their buildings.
The only ones who had any balls were the Koreans.
“There is a rifle behind every blade of Grass”
When my wife and I got swatted by a town official with a hair across his ***, I asked them not to kill my cats. Much to my surprise; they didn’t.
Note to self...PROOF READ AND SPELL CHECK!
I don’t mean to suggest that a rigid totalitarian outcome is likely. But we could slide into a dirty civil war, with atrocities common. And at the end of such a scenario, I see the grid going down. In the cities, factions living on top of critical infrastructure will have a “veto.” So will rural insurgents. Once the power goes out, the cities will explode, and humpty dumpty will not be put together again. There will be no winners in that situation.
