Liquid fuel does not burn either, only its vapors. But you are correct about needing the proper air fuel mixture to explode. Also, jet fuel AKA kerosene is not that explosive at room temperature but is when heated a couple hundred degrees. Most people do not know you can put out a lit cigarette in a cup of gasoline @ room temperature.
The center fuel tank was empty. It wasn't needed for a flight of the length planned.
As some of my former colleagues pointed out at the time, when they became aware of the cover-up, jet fuel is very different from gasoline. That the jet fuel ignited from a short is not credible. There were not only the multiple ordinary observers on the ground that saw the missile, there was other evidence of it, never revealed.
After 2 decades, you can be forgiven if you start to doubt what you saw.
Laz, early in Obama’s campaigning I watched a clip here on FR of the Illinois senate debate between him and Alan Keyes. I saw Keyes attack him that he hadn’t even been born here, and Obama responding that we are talking about the Senate and not the Presidency. It was no smoking gun, of course, because Obama did not actually say “I wasn’t born here,” but he didn’t say “What the hell are you talking about? I was born in the state of Hawaii!” Instead, he dismissed the accusation by saying that we are discussing the Senate.
I saw this. Yet it has been completely scrubbed from the Internet. Completely. And alan Keyes has for some reason said it never happened. Crazy how you start to doubt your memory. Luckily, I’ve mentioned it on FR before, and others have told me they saw it too, or I’d suspect I dreamed it.
Netanyahu on board, was due to depart JFK in front of TWA 800. They asked for a delay (not unusual in the day of INS) and pulled into a holding area. TWA 800 took off in El Al’s time slot.

My understanding was that the center fuel tank was empty because the fuel in that tank was used up during takeoff. The wing tanks have the fuel that the plane uses to get to its destination.
Look into it. There are numerous reports and eyewitness accounts of the fuselage of Flt 800 punctured in a “shotgun” fashion. Most of the eyewitness accounts of the explosion describe the detonation being just before it hit the plane......so, a proximity warhead.
This happened just before the Atlanta Olympics. There is EVERY reason for this to be covered up. Cherry-picking eyewitness testimony, the FBI taking over, evidence tampering, eyewitness intimidation........it all points to something happening that the public was not allowed to know.
I love the constitution but it might as well be used as toilet paper. I really revere the experiment America is. But the country, the military, all of it BELONGS TO US PEOPLE. Only a very few secrets should be allowed to be held by government from us, for provable (later, to us) national security.
Keeping these secrets from us is unconstitutional. There is no reason to hide a terror attack (even if it glorifies the terrorist). We deserve the truth.
I believe it was empty because the 747 had completed an Athens to New York flight before being turned around for the New York to Paris flight. That required less fuel so the tank was not filled up as it had been in Greece.

Wonder who was really on the plane? And who was in the sub?
I happened to be in the green room of the Fox studios in Dallas as they were salvaging the wreck -- when some footage grabbed my attention.
The crane mounted on a barge brought up a large section of fuselage with a row of windows in it. The inside was first visible, then it spun around so that the exterior became visible. There was a hole below the window line, about the size of a pie plate, slightly off-round like a round object penetrated the skin slightly off of perpendicular. On the exterior, around the perimeter, the skin was smoothly pressed inward. On the interior, the edges had been visibly extended inward.
Like a 12-inch wide round projectile had entered the fuselage at that point. There was no sign of any explosion, however.
There was no mention of the image from the TV. Presumabably, the commentators weren't watching their monitors (or some other image was on them).
Never heard anything about it from any source. But I saw what I saw.
Jack Cashill wrote quite a bit about the evidence showing a hit by a missile.
I don’t think it’s been covered up very well, it’s just been ignored.
That was author James Sanders, his wife, and a TWA pilot.
Just to show how much the MSM was protecting Clinton, Sanders turned over his evidence to CBS News thinking they'd run with the scoop, and instead CBS turned him in to the FBI.
I think Sanders was expecting the Pentagon Papers treatment from CBS. He didn't expect them to be in the tank for Clinton.

Correct! If the second crash had not been caught on television, The Government would have attributed both to pilot error.
Not to mention the videos that disappeared. One from a National Guard pilot. I read that initially the FBI used transits for the witnesses to point to where they saw the incident.
Honestly, I read about this back about the time when the investigation was underway. I’ll try to research the source.
I’m not even sure if it was Bibi or the Prime Minister of Israel, at the time. Let me check it out.
There was also a radar plot on the internet, that has probably since disappeared, that showed an object estimated at about 600 mph intersecting with TWA 800 and then disappearing along with the transponder display of TWA 800.
It’s possibly available in the book “First Strike”.
I do not personally have that information.
