Doesn't matter if Ted Cruz was born in Canada. Same deal as with McCain being born in Panama. If a child is born of a US citizen when overseas, they are natural-born US citizens.
I have a daughter that was born in Argentina when I was working there in the mid-80's.
We had to file a "Report Of Birth Abroad Of A Citizen Of The United States Of America" form FS-240 Rev 3-80 with the US embassy.
Accompanying documentation was the Argentine official birth certificate, the parents marriage certificate, a statement from the attending physician, a statement from the hospital, the parental evidence of US citizenship (US passports in our case), and list the periods of parents residence in the US.
The embassy issued a US Birth Certificate Form FS-54S Rev 1/73, issued by the Dept. of State, Foreign Service of the United States of America, "Certification of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America"
It was stamped with an embossed stamp and signed by the Consul General of the US embassy.
My daughter can run for President... and so can Ted Cruz.
I believe this will be sorted out in the courts (although God only knows if that will produce a “correct” answer).
If Cruz is the R nominee, I’m sure Dems will invoke whatever legal procedures they can. I’m not knowledgeable about how this goes, Supreme Court eventually?
Sorry, but this actually does not need to be sorted out in the courts. There is no question in this issue to be resolved. “Just the facts...” per Dragnet... :-)
I have three siblings who were born overseas. My father was career Navy. Why would anyone stay in the military if they knew that their children wouldn’t be US citizens? This really isn’t complicated.
You may be right, and I’m not an attorney.
BUT I’ll bet my next SocSec deposit that if Cruz is the nominee, it will wind up being litigated by Democrats.
Thanks for the info. I wonder if the Cruz family has all the documents that you filed and received.
Of course it will be litigated, if his campaign continues to gain traction. The atty who commenced the fubo litigation was a Hillary operative.
