good,
kill em ALL.
Impugnity? Imperviousness to pugnacity?
Sisi and Abdullah understand something that Washington, or at least the Congress, does not. They are at war with the Jihad, serious destructive war with existential ramifications. America is in the same war. If there were a workable WWII analogy it would be the “phony war” period while nations were maneuvering frantically in Europe before serious shooting started. And as in that time, the English speaking peoples are deluding themselves that all is still well.
Bent on destroying Egypt and Jordan, too, and any other country or regime that they don’t own yet.
Yep. Crush them. Then carter will be whining again.
Egypt and Jordan are not unexpected allies to Israel. Both governments, minus the Moslem Brotherhood interlude in Egypt, know that their continuance as nations and cultures depends on the continued existence of Israel, even as they say all the standard araby thingies about Palestine. Arabia is a separate case, Arabia is still funding much of the Daesh madness and is funding terrorism all over the world due to the politico-cultural tensions between the Sauds and the Wahhabis. Those tensions won’t go away and Arabia builds border walls and beheads dissidents even as it funds the forces that have induced them to build border walls and behead dissidents.
Egypt is doing what it can. Jordan is getting into the fight. Washington is watching developments and figuring out how to hobble both before they do any real damage to Washington’s allies in the Middle East.
It is not inconceivable that Israel might invite Egypt to do just that. There is always the worry, though that Egypt might not then leave.
Such a strange occurrence that the author had to coin a new word to help explain it...
“It is not inconceivable that Israel might invite Egypt to do just that (invade Gaza). There is always the worry, though that Egypt might not then leave.”
Two birds with one stone (defeating Hamas and outsourcing Palestinian population)- as long as Egypt withdraws its heavy armor back across Sinai. Only Egypt is big enough to absorb the Palestinian population without undue domestic political impacts. Al-Sisi governing Gaza would mean an Arab-style purge of Hamas/Muslim Brotherhood - ruthless, extensive, and largely ignored by the press.
In the future, the Egyptian Government might revert to a more inimical regime, but they would only be a bit closer than they are now in Sinai, and still bound by treaty to keep there heavy forces back on the other side of Sinai.
