We can and should learn from this. Boehner was re-elected with less than a majority of the whole House, a minor point that should be annoyingly repeatedly thrown at him. He, alas, really did have a majority, they just didn't all vote. There were 5 non-voting GOP members: Boehner himself (Speakers traditionally rarely cast votes), John Carter (TX), Trey Gowdy (SC), Alan Nunnelee (MS), Don Young (AK). I strongly suspect all 5 would have voted for Boehner had they voted. Brian Babin (TX) voted present, a weak move suggesting Boehner could have rolled him if needed. And of the 24 named non-Boehner GOP votes, one by Chris Gibson (NY) was cast for Leader Kevin McCarthy. That's far from a reliable anti-leadership vote. So Boehner likely could have gotten 223 votes from the present 246 member GOP caucus and will probably pick up another when the pending NY special election occurs. So if all seats are occupied, and all vote, we need Boehner to make another 7 GOP members mad enough to vote against him. And that 'all vote' shouldn't be taken for granted. The 20 non-voting Democrats functionally cast 10 votes for Boehner at no cost to themselves nor to Boehner. Most were attending the funeral of Mario the Pious in NY. That's a legit excuse, but who conveniently scheduled the funeral in conflict with this legally mandated vote and did they consider the consequences? Andrew Cuomo certainly could figure the political effects of his dad's funeral's timing.

I've seen it said that a vote to change the Speaker can happen at any time, but I don't know the real world mechanics of that. I bet it's historically rare. That conceded, it is a plausible future action with this Speaker and this electorate. But before pulling that trigger they need to be sure they have enough more votes to prevent 218 GOP votes for Boehner AND a sufficient cushion to handle lower 'majorities' d/t any Democratic 'sickouts' etc.

Remain steadfast and vigilant, FRiends. The GOP-e and Left crave Conservative despair and disenfranchisement.

We’ve made progress in recent election cycles.

It was a set up to bash the patriots/constitutionalists, and I’d wager 0bama knew about it, too.

They knew they were fighting a losing battle

The pricks in conservative media are out in force

The Five, Hewitt, Bennett, laughing at scoffing at the futility of pretending boehmite isn’t a conservative and how good he’ll finally be now that, what? I don’t know. They’re not clear on that. Then screeching re he’s not vindictive and wouldn’t punish anyone for voting against him

Representative Ken Buck (R., Colo.), who took office this morning, said that the rebels made it harder for freshman lawmakers to oppose Boehner by waiting so long to go public with the fight.

“If this effort was going to be successful, it would have had to start in November, and it had to be an effort that included the freshman class,” Buck, who also voted for Boehner, told NRO. “A lot of the freshman class never received any phone calls from anybody, and that put us at a disadvantage.”

Poor Ken, they didn't tell him what to do soon enough. What, has he been in a frickin' coma the last six years? Even Lamborn turtled to save his spot in the good ol' boys club.

Anatomy of a Failed Coup: Boehner’s opponents were slow and uncertain.

Not really, it is more the image of the Republican Party. Add to it weak, gutless and scared.

.

Free Republic colleagues ... here's a proposal for a "Free Republic Action Task Force"

All it requires is (first and foremeost) Jim Robinson's "seal of approval" ...

and twenty (20) dedicated, intelligent, mature Patriots ...

NO MONEY IS REQUIRED .... isn't that wonderful ?

==============================================

It was observed today at Free Republic ...

They don't see how little money it takes to organize and activate a small group. And the idea is to start a "movement", which also does not take a lot of money. And there are a lot of disgruntled people who have some money to donate/spend who might love to be a backer of a movement.
==============================================

The 2015-01-03 rallies cost a total of "zero" dollars to set-up and organize and promote (with the exception of internet provider service and the monthly electric bill)

In less than FOUR weeks ... over 150 Facebook Conservative groups were invited, 2,000+ e-mails were sent out around America ... the organizer (a Facebook "newbie") attracted over 3,250 "new" Facebook "Friends" in less than three (3) weeks.

==============================================

Not being "snarky" here, just illustrative ... however, "naysayers" are invited to leave the DAMNED discussion at this point ...

Just go somewhere else if all you want to do is "bitch" ...

==============================================

Just imagine what could have accomplished if a "team" of fifteen (15) individuals worked together for eight (8) weeks (instead of the five weeks before the 2015-01-03 rallies) ?

That is "clearly" the approach for the next "event".

And ... if Free Republic were the "key" organizer ...

what if each of the ten (10) Free Republic coordinators were in touch with "five" Free Republic state chapters each ...

coordinating locations, logistics, etc ...

and items such as "follow-on" tasks (calling congress, etc) were clearly explained to everyone ...

with the necessary "information infrastructure internet links" set-up at Free Republic.

The necessary event "Operational Security" would be assisted if the ten (10) Free Republic coordinators had a special access code for the "Event Public Planning" links.

Free Republic "Coordinators Number Eleven and Twelve" would focus on "radio" contacts (Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Levin, savage, Josh Bernstein, etc) and "news" contacts (including Fox, Drudge, Blaze, RedState, WND, etc) ... respectively ...

Free Republic "Coordinator Numbers 13 and 14" would focus on inviting "high profile" guests to the "rally events" across the nation, including local conservative talk show hosts, congressmen, etc. ... east and west of the Mississippi ...

Free Republic "Coordinator 15" would liason with Freedom Works, Heritage Foundation, Ted Cruz, Jeff Sessions, Louis Gohmert etc.

Weekly status meetings could easily be done with "Go-To-Meeting"

Now ... how's that for a "back of the napkin engineering sketch" ?

All Free Republic needs to do this is 15-20 "trusted" and "vetted" persons ... and Jim Robinson's approval ...

.

Sounds like some Rinos trying to cover their ass for defying the overwhelming majority of the Republican party in voting to reconfirm a backstabbing failure as speaker.
