I like your fantasy. BUT the GOPe will most certainly surrepitiously fund stalking horse “conservatives” such as Huckabee and perhaps Santorum to split the conservative base and muddy the waters.
Maybe not with you or me, but he can go back to his campaign statements that were proven true and convince an awful lot of people that he should have been elected and maybe this time they should get it right.
We here at FR are in the minority of voters. I’m sure you know that.
Thanks for understanding my point!
How many voters vote a sole anti-abortion ticket? I would bet it’s a very, very small minority.
I’m not saying he’s the right candidate, just pointing out how he can leverage things from his last campaign.
I think you meant how many republican will vote for a candidate that they have learned is pro-abortion.
Not many, what do you think defeated him in 2012, an election the republicans couldn’t lose, and run against basically Jimmy Carter’s second term.
After spending years and tens of millions of dollars trying to convince voters that he had switched to pro-life in 2005, while running in two primaries, Romney would have an impossible task of explaining to them his switching back to pro-abortion, after winning the nomination.
You forget that he lost in 2012 when everything was in his favor, the man has only won a single election in his life, and he couldn’t get reelected to that office, and left with 34% approval.
His statements that were true?
Like sticking with his 20 years of support for homosexual Scout leaders, and a gay military?
I was so sure of that in 2012 that even though very large numbers of people on FR indicated that they would either skip voting or vote third party in the presidential race, I figured most Republicans would vote for Romney, UNLIKE "the minority of voters" that FReepers represent. I figured Romney would win or at least give Obama a run for his money.
But in truth, ChocChipCookie -- and to my surprise -- Republicans/conservatives across America were of the same mind as a very, very large number of FReepers (I kept a log) -- that Romney stunk and it was better to fight tyranny they rejected (Obama/Democrats) than tyranny they invited (Romney/functional Democrat "Republicans").
Obama won by default -- the only reason he won was because MOST Americans told Romney to go to hell, just like very probably "most" of "we here at FR" did. The MINORITY of Republicans voted for Romney -- the MAJORITY of Republicans rejected him. That is why he lost, and it is the ONLY reason Obama won -- Obama won by default; most Americans loathe Obama. If you don't believe me, READ what Americans say about him all across America, on comment boards on leftist websites from the LA Times to Yahoo.
FR is probably a very accurate reflection of what is going on in America among people who don't self-define as "liberal."
