Okay ACLU since when did cockroaches gain human rights? Whatever torture was applied to them it should have been worse.
To be pardoned implies that one had committed some sort of crime. They want to give W some Clinton-type tarnish.
yeah...sure...the aclu has so much credibility....give me a break and please go away!
THANK YOU.....signed, Hillary
Army interrogator: "uh, Mr. Islamist terrorist...are you going to talk?"
Islamist terrorist:"No, American dog, Allah forbids me to talk to infidels."
interrogator:"uh, okay (picking up pistol).... BANG!!!!.... Next!!!
All this reminds me that the new Senate needs to get busy catching up on Fast and Furious, IRS scandals, Benghazi, Obamacare, etc. The House also needs a kick in the ass regarding these crimes, too.
WWII we a declaration of War and in reference to following the Geneva Conventions, those are in place so we could have our way with spies, saboteurs and mercs. The Bush admin decided to come up with magical new classes like enemy combatant and then treat them different, when we already had the law on our side.
Instead of treating our actions like a War, it was decided to 'fight in the shadows' or some other catchphrase to keep the Americans shopping and not paying attention.
All natural oversight concerning War went out the door, in the form of defense spending, waste, fraud[pallets of cash]. The entire process only furthers to highlight the fact that .Gov cannot be trusted and the system protects itself.
Just why would Obama want to pardon Bush, Cheney or anyone else? This is all coming out now to elicit demands to prosecute Bush, et al. We shouldn’t look at Obama, look at how “bad” Bush was. Let the show trials begin!!
The history of this inanity goes way back. When the US Navy was fighting the Barbary Pirates, federal judges back in the US wanted the Navy to return captured pirates to the US from Africa. They wanted the ship with the prisoners to stop what it was doing, and spend six months feeding and caring for them just to take them back to the US to face trial. And then be hung. All because of the mighty egos of the judges.
The British, on the other hand, permitted their ship Captains to conduct trials of the pirates on board their vessels, and if found guilty of piracy, to hang the pirates on their own ship, which would then be set to irrevocably, if slowly, scuttle.
Knowing this fact, US ships Captains soon learned that whenever they captured pirates, they invariably did so in the territory of the British Navy, so would have to convey their prisoners to the nearest British ship for disposition. To which the British were amenable, and dispose of the pirates they did.
In modern times, federal judges still have might egos, so it is up to military commanders to come up with some means of timely justice that does not interfere with their mission.
But now it's turning into a tool they can inject into the news cycle to mitigate the impact of negative stories which denigrate the WH.
Remember how they were ready to publish this before the election but pulled it because it wouldn't have the impact they wanted? They've publishing it now because they are timing it with the Gruber hearings in order to try not to have to suffer too much with that.
