The South is finally moving on from it's Democrat past of Slavery, racism, and Jim Crow, and moving into the hope of the future.

Meanwhile, this bigoted, insulting screed from Micheal Tomasky laments the passing of the miseries suffered by the South under Democrat Control.

Uh.... no. The South moved on from such things LONG ago. To suggest otherwise is, at best, ignorant.

And these are the people who pride themselves on their tolerance of the Other.

Looks like he’s after another civil war. Divide and conquer seems to be working.

Hey, don't be surprised at this. This is just the beginning.

Loony left-wingers have always had a prejudice against southerners, and after the election, it's only gonna get worse.

They are very sore losers, After all. But that's OK. Just as long as they remain losers.

The Deep Blue Cesspool Cities on the coasts have 257 electoral votes. That’s just 13 shy of winning a presidential election. They don’t need the south. That’s the problem.

“A fact made even sadder because on the whole they’re such nice people! (I truly mean that.)”

Bless our hearts. LOL!

Yeh we are moving on from the Godless Commie states of America.

Like duh! It started with LBJ/dems and the civil rights/voting rights acts, which was followed by Nixon's Southern Strategy.

As for the dems writing off the south, that concept has been around for quite a while. The book written several years ago on the subject was entitled "Whistling Past Dixie". Google it!

“With Mary Landrieu’s ignominious exit, the Democrats will have lost their last senator in the Deep South. And that’s a good thing. They should write it off—because they don’t need it.”

This writer put the cart before the jackass. It was the south that wrote off the Democrats.

He offered one hopeful note - that one day the nation should split off from the communists.

The South is diverse - much more so than blue states. We are more Christian so the current hate whitey because of history doesn’t work as well here. In our faith, we forgive and look to remove the pole from our own eye before going after the splinter in the other guy’s eye. We are more independent because our faith requires that we look out for the other guy. We do Christian service. We donate to causes more than do blue states because our faith inspires us to care for the poor and needy with a soft heart.

I think the Americans in the south (whites and blacks) actually dealt with the sins, repentance and forgiveness of slavery and segregation, much more deeply than liberals. For this reason, common core’s school program which teaches tribalism’s grudges and hate according to loser liberals, should be disallowed in the South. Americans are not separate tribes at war over historical conflicts.

Not everyone in the South is Christian but Christians are a dominate force in the cultures of the South. Not everyone is conservative, either. I have lived all over the country and I’m thankful to be in the South. Texas is fun and smart - in an unliberal sort of way. People are not perfect here but they are not perfect anywhere. I like the people of the Midwest, but the South is warmer, more colorful and lively. Boston, where my children grew up, is tight assed nice but the politics which filter into the social atmosphere are poison. They elected a Governor who is a known radical racist - Deval Patrick.

The author is right - the South will never denounce God and abandon self defense. We won’t denounce the constitution, to accommodate a communist or globalist Utopia either. Whites in the South will never hate themselves for injustices they did not commit in history and will continue to struggle to be successful in life with property rights and economic freedom. Whites in the South don’t tolerate racist blacks and Hispanics so either hate is suppressed or sparse. Although the Liberals have worked hard on the South, the people have yet to totally lose honor and dignity.
