Charles Schumer, the third-ranking Democrat in the Senate, has forced a debate over fundamental party priorities out into the open. Should Democrats focus primarily on the problems of the poor or should they first address the economic struggles of the working and middle classes?
Its not often that a politician provokes conflict within the ranks of his partys core supporters. Schumer did just that in a National Press Club speech on Nov. 25, three weeks after devastating Democratic losses in Senate, House, gubernatorial and state legislative elections.
According to Schumer, President Obama and his party suffered defeat last month in large part because of the strategic decision to press for enactment of the Affordable Care Act soon after Obama won the presidency. In 2009, with Democrats in full control of Congress and the White House, Schumer said,
"Democrats blew the opportunity the American people gave them. We took their mandate and put all of our focus on the wrong problem health care reform. The plight of uninsured Americans and the hardships caused by unfair insurance company practices certainly needed to be addressed. But it wasnt the change we were hired to make; Americans were crying out for an end to the recession, for better wages and more jobs; not for changes in their health care. This makes sense considering that 85 percent of all Americans got their health care from either the government Medicare or Medicaid or their employer. And if health care costs were going up, it didnt really affect them."

Can say the same thing about amnesty.
They want the control over the populace and if losing the senate is the penalty then so be it.That goes for most of them sumbitches in Washington.
The comment section is so sad. The weeping
..the frustration... the gruberism...
sniff..sniff.
I’m about to cry......
HAR HAR!!!!!!
I’ll
Thisis like tellin Mac, cheese helps
Why are they even debating this?
We were told in multiple stories and broadcasts that the Republican wins had nothing to do with anything wrong the democrats did. It was that the democrats couldn’t get their voters out due to voter suppression.
Wait around for nothing. Our rino/gop-e leadership doesn’t want to fix anything. Only thing they want ot do is crush conservatives.
Eventually private wage earners will realize in the large that they are getting it up the backside without lubricant.
I don’t trust anything Schumer says or does. He and Obama fit together like hand and glove. Let’s see what he actually does in the new Congress and focus less on what he says. This guy is the Devil in my book. He never acts without a hidden motive.
Using Karl Marx’s ideas (ANY of his ideas) to help the middle class is like using Adolf Hitler’s ideas to help the Jews.
Modern Democrats HATE the middle class.
But the middle class keeps voting for them....
You are right about Schumer.
By the same logic, he is out front on this. Why?
he reads the election results for what he sees?
If the GOP were not a bunch of liberals who like being in the minority, and don’t know how to hide behind the Chamber of Commerce dough they take, they’d be to the right of Schumer, which they are not.
We’ll be seeing a lot of strange things before the conservatives take the constitution back into the realm, if they do so after Jan, in our life, or ever at all, that I don’t know.

Good question and the same one that hit me upside the head. He's the ultimate insider and this must be the start of a much bigger strategy from the top, but I haven't quite figured out what it is yet. Watch out for snakes in the grass.
Lie after lie after lie after lie after lie is right. It should be the gift that keeps on giving to the GOP. But I do not expect the party leadership to do the right thing.
But you get a free annual checkup and birth control, What more could you possibly want?
