i was confused until i got into the article... i thought the person was a female who dressed like a man... and was surprised when friends were mad that she was dressed like a man in her casket... but then i saw the pic of the person as a gal with make-up, and could tell from the pic that the transgender was a man dressing like a woman...

This story gave me an epiphany about this sort of thing.

If I were to claim that I were an African-American tomorrow in spite of my lily white skin and demonstrable heritage, I would be laughed at. If I sincerely believed that and continued to press the matter, I would be considered to be "eccentric" at best, mentally troubled at worst. But if I declare tomorrow that I am a woman trapped in a man's body and demand to start using the ladies' room-- I would be a darling of the friends of the deceased in this story.

I just like to know the rules of diction, you know, so I'll offer this as I understand it: if a guy thinks he's a gal, he's a transgendered guy, except that that's bigoted, because he's really a gal, but if you call him a transgendered gal, people will think he was originally a gal who thinks she's a guy. And so you're bigoted. But if you just call him a gal you are ignoring the heroic social struggle he has made against the evil heteronormative imperialistic patriarchy, so you're a bigot. And if you just call him a guy, you ignore his true transcendence and so you're a bigot.

This is not difficult to analyze within the strictures of symbolic logic. There is one constant: you're a bigot.

Friends of a transgender man from Idaho who died suddenly have reacted with shock after his family dressed him for an open casket funeral as a man.

32-year-old Geofrey Gable died suddenly of an aneurysm last month.

His friends who attended the service were disgusted to find that he had been prepared like a man with his long hair cut off and dressed in a suit.
