The only halfway-interesting candidate of the bunch. Plus, unlike Hillary, Webb actually wrote all his own books.I love his 2004 book, Born Fighting: How the Scots-Irish Shaped America, which was so good it was promoted by Tom Wolfe. Born Fighting displays his love of history and understanding of the character of the independent, self-reliant earlier Americans. However, I read somewhere that some of his other writing is sexually twisted. With Democrats, that's a résumé enhancer, I'll grant you. But if we have to have another Democrat president, he would be greatly preferable to Hitlery, Biden or Warren.

The only book of his I’ve read was Fields of Fire, which was a terrific novel about Vietnam. I don’t recall any sexual content in it but it was very well written. I’m not sure why I never read any of his other books. It would be quite a refreshing change to have, say, a campaign that pitted a writer against a doctor (Paul) rather than the norm of two lawyers.

I’d like to hear more from him. The county needs a strong independent voice.

I prefer Jim Webb to Hitlery. But then I prefer just about anyone in the DemonCrap Party to her.

He would lose enthusiasm from the urban progressive gentry (Obamas base), but pick up a big slice of white middle class voters.White middle class voters would have to be "stupid" as Gruber describes to vote for Webb.
Webb votes like Obama, Hillary and the rest of that ilk.

I’d agree with you that Webb is the least unacceptable as I’d make allowances that he still has a decent bone in his body and some level of conscience/morality, especially when compared to that list of loonies. If Liz Warren becomes a serious candidate, I may start praying to win the next big Lotto so I could blow it all as a candidate campaigning to garner as much publicity as possible while referring to her as “Fauxcahontas” at every turn.

I think this guy will end up being Hillarys running mate. It will be interesting to see if he goes after her at all. If he does not, but is somewhat popular he may be her VP pick (although I really think she will pick one of the Castro brothers). Webb would bring a sense of toughness on foreign policy and defense, she will need that after her screw ups...
So I received an email that I have slightly altered to protect the guilty :)
A person who contacted me is in close contact with an operative of the Webb Senate campaign. They informed me that Webb is an attractive running mate, because at his age he will be too old for the successor like Cheney would have been, so other candidates will not hesitate to support him as VeeP when its time to choose.

I agree. Anything but more lawyers. I’m so sick of them, I saw a book of “1,000 Lawyer Jokes” in GoodWill for $1, and I passed it up.
