I think you mixed songs...I referenced “White Room” - not “Crossroads” although the latter was quite the rocker.
“White Room” had my favorite Clapton/Cream solo.
btw, most if not all lyrics were by Pete Brown, a poet friend of Jack Bruce. JB typically wrote the music.

In a white room with black curtains near the station
Black roof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings
Silver horses ran down moonbeams in your dark eyes
Dawn light smiles on you leaving, my contentment
Cream was an awesome power trio. Really enjoy cranking their music.
RIP Jack Bruce.
The best? I’ve heard that Hendrix called Rory Gallagher that, myself.
I also heard that Hendrix called Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top (back then of the Moving Sidewalks) the best too.
Oh yeah; I also heard that Hendrix called Terry Kath of Chicago the best.
One of the two Jacks (along with Cassidy) who inspired me to learn to play bass.
RIP.
RIP.
Absolutely great, unique, and probably one of the two best bassists of the 60s. I saw him with Cream in 1969.
