The usual hypocrisy: "One imbibes [scotch] finally for the relaxed feeling it imparts. [...] One smokes [pot] for the effect."

He’s spot on. Pot heads are dopes, dull, and boring. People who have a drink or two are convivial. This is self-evident.

"Marijuana use by adolescents declined from the late 1990s until the mid-to-late 2000s, but has been on the increase since then." That is, since well before legalization.

Right. So do you suppose with legalization it will reverse! LOL. Wow, dude, drop the bong for a few minutes.

pot use by kids. But since you think that's okay

Back to lying about me, I see. The Drug Warrior returns to his own vomit.

YOU write that you favor drug legalization. Only a fool thinks that won’t mean more kids using dope.

Right. So do you suppose with legalization it will reverse!

Your evidence shows it rises and falls independent of government policy.

“The growing perception of marijuana as a safe drug may reflect recent public discussions over “medical marijuana” and movements to legalize the drug for adult recreational use in some states.”

As I pointed out last time you told that lie, since well before any state had legalized pot, teens have reported that they could get it more easily than beer or cigarettes ... which is to be expected since legal sellers card and illegal sellers don't.

We should combat mistaken ideas about things by banning them?

Using your logic, we’d keep electing Liberals.

It’s pretty good evidence that the “just say yes” crowd is encouraging more kids to smoke more pot.

To vote against a candidate is a very different act than to ban a commodity or activity.

Most of what you write is pure speculation and bunk, so I’d say it beats your prejudice.

Perhaps pot heads don’t feel the need or desire for conviviality that those having a drink or two do? This also is self-evident.

I think you’re right. Potheads often like to just space out and drift away from reality. Alcohol drinkers lose inhibition and for some it allows them to come out of their shell. Others let the devil out of themselves after just a couple of drinks. Each drug has its downside and tradeoffs. I think we fool ourselves when we uncritically praise pot like some posters or act like we have to find no fault with booze.

I don’t like praising or finding fault with either one. I think it’s a personal issue. No matter what, people will do what they want...and others will approve or disapprove.

I think both have their downside. I’m troubled by the emerging sense that pot is harmless. It isn’t. I know from a family members experience and sons of friend’s of mine. It may become impossible to keep it illegal if the “it’s just good fun” or the “it’s safe” crowd win over enough people.
