Going to date myself here, but when my dad as a supply officer for MCB-9 out in Port Hueneme CA we would often get the C-rations that had crashed off a pallet or truck when loading to go to VN.
We were a large family (6 kids) and with money so tight they were a welcome change to the menu of the family. And they had candy, hot chocolate, and some dessert with each meal.
It was a great treat, and all was very Hi calorie meaning they tasted wonderful.
Last year as a joke I got some C or K rations as a Christmas gift and thought that was just great.
Fond memories for sure.
Yeah, I am sure far more than that are thrown away by the kids.
If I were a kid I would be protesting rather loudly saying that if I had to eat food like this new, healthy stuff I would be deprived of my right to grow my butt as big as Michelle Obama’s!
Typical liberal law. Break a school lunch system that wasn’t broke, by ruining it with bad policy, then the schools demand more money to fix the problem the libs foisted upon them. See how big government works?
BTW, why is the federal government involved in dictating what schools serve the students at the local level for lunch? I don’t remember reading about this item in the enumerated powers in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution. I’m just sayin’.....
I would love to see an “Empty Tray” protest. Just sit at the tables with empty trays, don’t even get the lunch in the first place and tweet those pics to the big M.O.
