[[It is merely a summary of what was discussed at what is supposed to be an open discussion]]

‘Merely’? The fact that the church is even discussing the issue shows that they have strayed

[[Often they wish to encounter a Church that offers them a welcoming home.]]

I’m sure they do- they want to sin AND have a church pat htem on the back and tell them everything is a-ok and that God forgives them and so does the church

[[accepting and valuing their sexual orientation,]]

Really? Shall we ‘accept’ rapists and pedophile’s perversions and ‘value’ them as well because they might have some ‘value’ to offer people of God and the church? Or are we now picking and choosing which BLATANT sinners and enemies of God we ‘value’
and which ones we don’t?

[[As one can see, it is somewhat different than the impression given by the secular press.]]

No- not really!

[[”For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?” Hebrews 10: 26-29]]

That verse also used to really bother me too- however, from my studies, I’ve found out that You do NOT have to fear that IF you have accepted Christ as personal savior- The verse is NOT talking about backsliders- That verse is talking about APOSTATES who ‘come close to salvation but who never take that final step of salvation of asking Christ to forgive them and become their savior- These APOSTATES that the bible is talking about gave every outward appearance of being saved, pretending to enjoy the word of God, always going to fellowship with other believers, etc etc etc- but they were simply just selfish people wanting to belong to an ‘in crowd’ of some type and wanting recognition as a ‘valuable member’- but in their hearts they were not- they were wolves in sheep’s clothing so to speak inthat they wanted the good things of the church WITHOUT submitting to God their lives- When such a people turn away eventually- they will never be given another chance to be saved

You can ban them but that doesn’t keep out closet cases. What’d really decrease the proportion of homosexuals and pedophiles in the priesthood is allowing priests to marry. That’d also rectify the embarrassing contradiction of a pro-life church taking an anti-life position by forbidding its priests to bring life into the world.

Where do I start? The Munkerys have been havens for queers/pedophiles forever. Their definition/declaration of celibacy didn’t include each other and have been the thing that attracts many men to the priesthood. So is His Popeness now saying it’s OK for all the deviates to declare their persuasion in public? The failure of the Vatican to turn over all these dirtbagz for prosecution will forever put the lie to any of their proclaimed good intentions. Hey Popester——send us Bernie Law-—then we’ll talk about your “adjustments” to your dogma.

Other faiths and denominations that have married clergy deal with the same problems; ministers, rabbis, and coaches simply abuse the power regardless of whether or not they are married.

Catholic priests in the eastern Churches can marry. I believe there is a rationale to the celibacy, as all of the apostles (our first priests) were martyred save one.

Cardinal Law defended himself well (in a legal, if not moral sense); if you read the transcripts of his deposition, he did nothing that the civil authorities weren’t doing (turning loose deviants with medical approval). Each time he was asked why he had assigned someone back into ministry, he produced the necessary paperwork from shrinks approving the person for work.

If he hadn’t, I believe he would have been charged.

Look we all know that there are clerics who are NOT in line with Church Teaching. Our enemy has been very busy trying to destroy the Church. Pray for the Church (and the Synod) and TRUST God.

The keys are to believe and repent, repent and believe.

Amen and amen Biggirl. Thanks.

Thanks Bob for that. I must admit that I have listened to sermons, studies, and read blogs on the key to Salvation - which of course if just what you said it was. To ACCEPT Jesus Christ.

As Biggirl posted to me, the key is to repent and believe, believe and repent.

Some of us still struggle with certain sins after following Christ, others don't - but we all sin.

Our sin nature is still there. But God works in us, and when we stumble, the Holy Spirit convicts us, with the same rationale that a parent tells a child not to put their hand on a hot oven door.

Those with a seared conscious could care less. I highly doubt Barack Hussein Obama loses any sleep due to his sins.

If someone knew me before I accepted Christ, and met me afterwards, it was almost like I was a different person. Before Him, I could put up a good front, but I really didn't care what sins I committed as long as I could get away with them.

With Christ, I find that I am never alone.

I think hell is about to be set loose on this
world and the church is taking to the side that it
thinks is going to win. New world order, one world
government, one world religion. That would explain
the popes anti-capitalist stand. The catholic
church is getting ready to accept a fascists world
government with open arms.

A celibate profession disproportionately attracts people accustomed to concealing their sexuality. Homosexuals do to a significant degree, and pedophiles do to the ultimate degree. On the flip side, celibate professions are particularly off-putting to people with a normal, healthy sexuality, which people aren’t accustomed to hiding.

Nor are these ill fruits of celibate professions unique to Catholicism. The ranks of Buddhist monks in Thailand, for instance, are full of homosexuals.

Allowing priests to marry wouldn’t eliminate the problem—professions that offer intimate access to children will always attract some perverts—but it would decrease the problem by making more of a place in the profession for people with a normal, healthy sexuality that they don’t want to have to conceal.

I might add that it’s bizarrely ironic for the pro-life Catholic Church to forbid its clergy bringing life into the world. That’s an anti-life position any way you slice it.

the shortage of priests and Vatican two pretty much brought in and accepted many homo priests...

can a celibate homosexual man be a priest and a good one?...of course....but I suspect they rarely are...
