It looks to me that the CDC guidelines are inadequate, that is the problem, NOT "breech of protocol" and clearly Ebola is a lot more easily transmitted, than the CDC wants us to believe.

Yeah, let’s blame victims while the idiots at the CDC are bringing in plane loads of virus carries because they have delusions of being ‘citizens of the world’...

I think this type of job action is going to spread far and wide and SOON when workers REFUSE to deal with the after-effects of ebola, in hospitals, mortuaries, travel industry, etc.

Their assurances Thursday came as workers who clean airplane cabins and bathrooms at La Guardia Airport went on a one-day walkout to protest what they said were inadequate protections from potential exposure to a disease whose recent spread has set off world-wide alarm.

The woman trusted the “experts” and put her life on the line for another human being. And she just may have sacrificed her life. And the CDC says it’s her fault.

From what I have read it’s not only better PPE to be wearing it’s also the protocols taking off the PPE and the stages of being disinfected that are important also. My guess is this nurse may have gotten Ebola in the process of getting out of her PPE.
So what does the CDC idiot have to say about that?

The Breach in Protocol was done the second Duncan got on that flight to the US.

said that caregivers may need to add more layers of protection in the patient's final days, such as double gloves, a respirator, or even a full bodysuit.

She wasn't in a full bodysuit? Then the protocols are inadequate. Who's fault is that?

If you can’t analyze what went wrong without such analysis being criticized as “blame”, then it will be really difficult to prevent other health care workers from getting sick.

Whenever something goes wrong, people who deal with safety and risk management analyze the situation, determine where the problem occurred, take steps to mitigate the problem, and very often use the incident as an example of how failure to follow standard procedures leads to trouble.

We have protocols for dealing with Ebola. We have been dealing with Ebola for decades. If those protocols are not followed to the letter, we need to know how and why they were bypassed, so as to prevent those lapses in the future.

Ebola did not suddenly become more contagious because someone did not use PPE properly.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...
