“The left LIKES drug laws. They justify more federal control.”

So do an awful lot of faux conservatives even though it is most certainly NOT one of the enumerated powers laid down in the Constitution.

” I offer this. Legalize ALL drugs. Destroy the federal control. Let the Left stay stoned, 24/7/365 until they all die. It’s no great loss.”

I most heartily agree. Sell heroin, meth, crack, and whatever else in 5 pound sacks at Safeway and Walmart. The only caveat is the only government money that gets spent on you in any way, shape, or form is to toss your poisoned corpse into a mass grave.

“War on poverty’’. What does that mean, you shoot poor people?

And we’ll do the same for booze too, right?

How old are you?

Its interesting in that your comments are exactly those put forth and propagated by the hippies and New Left in the 60’s.

They’ve become mainstream now as has the associated Marxist outlook and liberal ethos.

It is a canard, apples and oranges.

Marijuana use is much more harmful to society than alcohol use.

That alcohol can cause more accidents is a separate issue that the left has successfully conflated with “harmful”.

Legalize it or not. Just keep taxes out of the argument.

Damned straight. I don’t care what the intoxicant is. Sell it freely to consenting adults but let them know society won’t pay a plugged nickle to clean up after the mess they made of their lives. It they die from poisoning themselves toss them into a big hole in the ground and be done with it.

I’m sick and tired of being taxed to death to cover the costs of this stupid, unconstitutional, failed war on drugs.

It’s over. We lost.

What if he were pro CCW? Would that make him only half a Rube?

Sorry I wasn't alive in the 60s. I'm 36, married to a woman, and am a father of three (including one with Downs Syndrome).
We are pro life, pro Second Amendment, pro biblical marriage, libertarian minded (but hold our nose GOP voting) conservatives.
I just stated my opinion based on real world observations with regard to marijuana. In my view it is just a matter of which evil one prefers to live with.
Live with a legally regulated marijuana industry, or spend billions fighting a never ending and losing “war” that is working about as well as prohibition did (again I wasn't alive for those debates either).
This country got along just fine in the 1800s before the regulating of inanimate objects became a pretext for massive government expansion.
I don't think marijuana is good for people.
I also don't think a police state (which has become increasingly militarized) is good for liberty.
We are evangelical Christians and I'm anything but a leftist.
Please disagree with me if you like about this issue, but don't throw me in the trash by associating me with a movement I wasn't alive for.
I've always been able to disagree with people on this forum without it getting ugly and I'd prefer to keep it that way.
God bless you and FR.

I disagree with you on only this point. With modern production methods, the economics of scale will drive the price down to a few cents per pound. Go ahead and let them buy 5 kilos of high purity smack with an EBT card.

A shot of that will slow their heart rate down to once a week. No great loss. It's better and cheaper than having to line them up at the edge of a ditch, during the all too possible CW2...

You may have misunderstood me. I am suggesting we treat them the same way they treat themselves. If they die from their addiction they get put to the curb on Friday morning with the rest of the trash. I’m certainly not suggesting we kill them. No need for that. They’ll do it on their own.

"Marijuana use is much more harmful to society than alcohol use."

I have yet to see a punch up bar fight over a football game between two stoners . Stroll down any city street and count how many stoners are passed out in a doorway clutching a blunt. Please indicate how many ODs are listed from pot.

Sorry, logic and the facts are not on your side. And I date back to when a nickel "ounce baggie" was $5 and a real ounce... I tried it, once, back in '71. Hell, half my company, (Comm Bn, 1st Mar Div.), were stoners. No big deal.

And they could also sell alcohol to teenagers and use the tax money to fund alcohol addiction counseling and pay alcohol related hospital bills, and even help families pay funeral expenses whenever alcohol was a causative factor in teen deaths.

I am not a radical - I am ex-drug warrior. I used to believe in banning (some) drugs until I was forced to the conclusion that the drug wars were more dangerous to our civil rights than the druggies!
This stance was dragged out of me.

Then keep looking for ways to cut into their earnings.
Underbidding them is just the start.

I already wish I was a kid so I smuggle brownies and cola into to those stupid Michelle Obama infested schools and sell it.
Why create a ready made market for dealers?

Don’t you get it? The intention was never to win. It’s all about the money my friend. Follow the money. And not just the trail that leads to the bad guys.

I get it my friend, I really do. It’s all about more power and money for the government. A convenient boogey man is necessary to convince people to surrender their rights and their money in order to be “protected”.

I do believe that Ben Franklin had some thoughts on that subject.

But...but...but...I we legalize marijuana and “tax the hell out of it”, more people are going to need “drug treatment.” This sounds like one of Nancy Pelosi’s plans to create jobs and help da ‘conomy.

One of the reasons Prohibition was repealed was it simply became a war the government could no longer afford to fight. But this nonsense of ‘’The War on Drugs’’ is all about money. Follow the money. Stripped of all emotion drugs are a commodity and that means money. When you have a problem that involves money you get control of the money and then you will get control of the problem. You said you were a ‘’Drug Warrior’’, I’m assuming you were in law enforcement? If this is the case and not to be a smart ass but did you ever find a drug dealer that asked kids for id?
