If only! The police have mp5 sub guns, military m16 rifles and carbines with night vision, armored personnel carriers, etc, ad nauseum. Please name the citizens armed in such a way as the police had to become like this to “keep up”.
Well we knew they would get around to it. What took so long is my question. All those law abiding US citizens just walking around carry guns and doing God knows what.
It’s important, however, to change those things we can, and in this case one thing to change is our perception of those weapons.
We need to begin thinking of them as resources for our side, resources being maintained and fueled for us to use when they are needed.
Yes of course, the people that commit the least amount of crime per capita are the reason for the militarization of police.
So the proliferation of firearms is causing more violence, as is cited in the increase in police kills in Massachusetts, then the police should be disarming, not arming up.
