That's not to take anything away from the current participants, the dedication/skill level required(particularly the drill)is pretty amazing to see.
Artists like the late great Jim Ott did wonders creating that crisp "wall of sound" back in the day for corps like BD & Spirit...I just miss that sound.
BTW, as a former 'contra player...just wondering if you've seen these guys?
They do a great job with this Don Ellis(& Madison)classic.

I never met Jim Ott, but he was a big influence on us years later.
Freddy Martin once told me the only Contra louder than me was Sasquatch His real name is Mark. So I guess I'm the second loudest Contra in DCI history.
I hit 110 on the Db meter once...
