I would think the technology could detect the tunnels, though destroying them on an ongoing basis would be a diplomatic problem. Maybe Israel does. I’m not the only one who has expressed surprise that Israel wasn’t more aware of the tunnels. And that Israel seemed to have no inkling of the planned Yom Kippur attack through the tunnels. Just a few weeks off. Perhaps through sheer luck Israel decided July’s rocket attacks coupled with the kidnapping were the trigger sending them into Gaza. Not impossible Israel knew, and was awaiting the right time. If the latter, Hizbollah may have an upcoming problem. And with southern and northern threats degraded, perhaps Iran.
