The infection rate began to climb again in West AFrica around the end of April/early May. That’s around the time their rainy season begins. Also known as mosquito season. It’s also around the time healthcare workers using heretofore adequate precautions began getting infected.
I suspect it may be transmitted by some sort of insect, like mosquito.

“Pathogenesis
The pathogenesis of hemorrhagic fever viruses is not completely understood; however, key points include the following (Peters 2002):
Hemorrhagic fever viruses enter the bloodstream through various mechanisms (eg, the bite of a mosquito or tick, inhalation, mucous membrane exposure, parenteral exposure), and all (except hantaviruses) cause disease during the period of viremia.”
Or droplets, standard precautions are three feet.
That was my leap into concern as well. Med tech.
Good thing we have open borders in the U.S....
.....’Samaritan’s Purse’, was also temporarily withdrawing its non-essential staff ‘from Liberia’, citing regional “instability and ongoing security issues”.
.....’Hong Kong’ announced quarantine measures for suspected cases, although one woman arriving from Africa with possible symptoms tested negative.
....’.The International Civil Aviation Organization’ (ICAO) has held talks with global health officials on potential measures to halt the spread of the disease.
.....In Britain, Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond chaired the government’s COBRA crisis management committee to assess the situation. One person has tested negative for the disease.
.....The European Union is equipped and ready to treat victims should the deadly virus be found in its 28 member states, an EU source said in Brussels.”
This is how pandemics go global.
Let’s all become Chinese and bow....no more handshakes for awhile.
Whether that in fact happened is debated to this day. Yes, animals in different rooms were infected and yes, alternate explanations exist for how that occurred. It is not regarded as anywhere near scientific "fact" that the mode of transmission was indeed through aerosols, although articles and blogs endlessly act as though it is.
I agree.
Liberian here in the states write...:
“I just talked to my brother in Liberia I’m in tears...All the hospitals in Liberia is closed.. all the schools ,.. offices and market places are closed people are panicking....28 ppl confirmed dead from a village in Lofa county... all the doctors and nurses are abandoning the hospitals every one is afraid in Liberia.....I’m scared for my mom and nephews, someone in their neighborhood died from Ebola and the family buried them which is something not advised.”
Any form of third party contact would be suspect.
Morons and ingrates; we go over there and our citizens die to fight for their lives and the ingrates mistrust us! The idiots are eating Ebola infected animals and their burial rituals expose them, making them the biggest morons in the world.
So now, they’re also traveling the world and spreading it like crazy.
"Pass the fruit bat chops, Bongo. Those doctors don't know nuttin'.
I think it takes a couple of generations to turn tribal people into good citizens. They have no conception of what they don't know, and meanwhile, they threaten the rest of the world.
I'm thinking of "our" illegals too, crossing our borders in droves, not even knowing there's such a thing as plumbing.
“...are closed people are panicking....28 ppl confirmed dead from a village in Lofa county...”
I posted something similar about how things would get shut down in the USA if some cases start showing up. And that a certain amount of prepping NOW (or sooner) would be wise to weather the storm when stores are closed, the electric company workers don’t show up for work, etc.
Not enough. There is something more ominous about this strain than in the past.
Yep. Stocking up for the first time ever at our place.
Proof again what one ‘believes in’ and practices does matter, and affects all those around ....and even ultimately the world.
I'm not one who supports diversity nor this whole idea of universalism....the more 'this is pushed' on nations and their cultures the messier the world gets.
Distinctions have purpose.
