30mm wont get to 35,000 feet and give enough lethal density zone to bring down an aircraft. Best AA shoots into an area and hopes the plane flys into the zone. 23mm and 30mm, heck old 57mm systems probably have <1% chance over 20,000 ft, let alone 30,000 ft +.

As I understand, the holes are irregularly shaped, which is consistent with shrapnel damage rather than bullet wholes. Also, SU-25 can’t reach the height of the jetliner to shoot cannons.
