I am most definitely NOT “anti-Interventionist”.
I am however, anti-STUPID-interventionist.
Obama is playing a game here in which not only is he and his ideologues outclassed in, they are playing checkers while Putin is playing chess.
Obama’s incompetence is walking us ever closer to the kind of a real GLOBAL war that we don’t want, with every escalation. This isn’t some yahoo from a district in Colorado that he can just sick his media sycophants on, and destroy.
And the Russians, throughout their history, have been very sensitive to that kind of bs.
Sadly, history also shows us that weak and incompetent leadership usually ends in that result.
Well, then, regarding Maydan, apparently you agree with me that the US was a very minor factor at most!
If the invader / rebel coalition did not / do not need the influx of weaponry and personnel coming in from Russia, then why are they:
A) Getting so much of it?
B) Begging for much more support?
I agree that there was mucho weaponry “lying around”, but aside from the fact that much of it was in poor to unusable condition, the legit Ukrainian military still controlled most of it, and the Ukrainian military is a much more capable force (once they got organized and purged the bulk of traitors) than the Ukrainian separatists. This doesn’t even consider the right wing / nationalist militias, who appear to be a very modest, but not completely insignificant force. Again, remove all outside actors and “donated” equipment today, and this thing, outside of minor flare-ups, is over in a month, maybe less.
Putin’s henchman Yanukovych pretty well decimated Ukraine’s economy and the military’s equipment capability, obviously all according to plan. Relative to that, and considering the size of this war, and that most of the loan money is going to the purpose of simply keeping Ukraine economically afloat, the outside assistance to Kiev has been pretty paltry. Perhaps after this shootdown of a commercial flight, that will change?
As far as the arms purchases go, they are for certain specifics and not really that large: Ukraine’s own capacity to crank out arms is more significant.
In spite of the fact he is doing a crappy job as president, (there is a reason we test republican candidates foreign policy opinions)The policies generally being executed in the Ukraine and all of Europe are similar to the ones we have had for 60 years. He is just not doing it with any conviction or expertise.
The Ukraine is not about Obama, it's about Russia. It's about Putin, and it's about our strategic interests in keeping Russia bottled up where they need to be.
I am still not sure if you even know why you are advocating for Putin. You don't even seem to know that you are. Reminds me of Occupy Movement. They don't have a clue either. No, I don't think you are a agent or a Communist...lol I think you are just confused.
The world is complicated. Good things are not always good, bad things not always bad and sometimes good becomes bad or bad to good. No blacks or whites...just shades of grey. The Ukraine is a grey area. Most of eastern Europe is as well.
But we understand the Russians completely. The Chinese less so. Anything that keeps the Ukraine out of Russian direct control is a good thing for us. It's a proxy, and it has been one since the wall came down. It will continue to be one until Russia stops.
lol...great!
I will have to buy the boxed set.
OK...so it's about Obama...Not putin, not the Ukraine or Russia.
IMO...You either intervene or you don't intervene. If you do it stupidly and fail, (which we have done many times before) history will say that you attempted the right thing.
If you don't intervene, history may say that you were stupid not to at least try.
My arguments and those of others here is to show that the intervention is warranted ...
If the players on our side muck it up, then after it's all over I may or may not be commenting on that. But I am for intervening, even with Bozo at the helm.
Mentioning Obama is just a tool. Russia has always seen USA as their enemy and Obama has nothing to do with it. When Russian propaganda is sold here they try to masquerade it as being against only Obama. “I have a bridge to sell, that Obama does not want you to have”.
That Finnish band also made a mocumentary called “Leningrad Cowboys Go America”. It was fun to watch, but you have to mentally trick yourself back to 1989 and perhaps also know about Finland at that time to enjoy it or half of the jokes escape you.

How about the Nazi Party. Have they been kicked out?
...too bad we can’t do the same to the Communist Party in the United States (which, by any measure, is less patriotic to this country than the communists over there are to their country).
There is however a political party called Svoboda that the European lefties like to tar and feather with that label. The reason being that the party is considered to be right wing (European right)
In reality they are much akin to the Russian nationals of the 80s and are patriotic euro style right wingers who stick out because they are running against mostly Communist/socialist inspired opposition from the left, so they get labeled as Nazi's in the same way that Republicans do in the US by our beloved lefties.
So there is no friggin Nazi Party..
I am really having difficulty believing that people in the US have fallen for all this propaganda spread by pro-Russian news rags.
It's embarrassing.
No Nazi Party? You know Google has this neat search feature.
neo-Nazi??
Those are skinheads!
We have a crap load of them in the US smoking dope in a 4th floor walkup, and they have them in Europe as well, but they are not a political PARTY.
Svoboda is more akin to a far right US conservative.
Neo Nazi's, some of which vote Republican in the US, are racist, Jew hating white supremacists and you know what they are when you see them in public, which is rarely these days.
They are not a political party. They are scum that lefties and political opposition to Svoboda try to associate to Svoboda in the same way they do to the Republican party in the US.
You are citing political agit-prop as proof that what I said is wrong. And what I said was that you are apparently believing what you are reading and it's embarrassing..
So here you go, and prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, exactly what I stated quite clearly.
Until relatively recently I was a day trader. Retired now and protecting my assets for that reason, but I am quite aware of the political leanings of IBT and FT (financial times) They are left wing publications.
You see what I mean?
The political back and forth in the US is absolutely tame in comparison with the Europeans. They play down and dirty hard ball over there and they use smear and leer tactics in the media to gain support or to deny others support in elections.
They will pickup on a quote or speech or picture and misrepresent it, take it out of context or out right lie to achieve political victory. We do this in the US as well, but as you might guess the Republicans get the brunt of it from the Left because they control the publications and are Marxist in their beliefs. It is the same all over the globe.
I find it odd that regarding the Ukraine situation, republicans and Conservatives are joining the American Marxists in criticizing, tar and feathering and demeaning the right wing politicians of the Ukraine. Essentially their counterparts in the European political spectrum.
Odd indeed.
Not the conservative views I have.
OK....That was one person who did not like the actress. He made a crappy comment, assuming his words were not twisted...I think the comment was from 2002, but in any case he was used by the left to smear the entire party.
Sound familiar????????????
Hmmmmmm...
Let me tell you some things about anti-Semitism in Europe.
It’s everywhere, all political parties and all races.
My grandparents were anti-Semitic. Guess where they immigrated from?
Grand Dad came from Georgia and Grandmother from Yugoslavia. They were upstanding Orthodox Christians who immigrated in 1923 as the Russians invaded Georgia. But they, as their other family and friends were anti-Semitic.
The political parties of Europe have used anti-Semitism as a political tool for generations. They are steeped in it like tea. And it’s difficult for them to shed it. My father was quasi anti-Semitic and I have none of it in me but it is what it is.
Every bad year, every period of a bad economy, was always and still is blamed on the Jew by people who do it out of habit. Jews had the unfortunate mantle of banking, and so it followed if you were turned down for a loan you blamed the Jew. If you lost your home or property you blamed the Jew. If a war started you blamed..........etc, etc, etc. But it all started with Jesus and the cross.
So yes, you will find anti Semitic behavior in the European political right. Try as they might, there is always some idiot who will say something quotable. (sound familiar???)
Anyway, that brings me full circle, and now I ask again why you are so gleefully supporting the political Marxists or left, over your right wing counterparts. .?? Is it just Mila Kunis???
Is it because you are a kneejerk reactionary and don’t understand what you are doing and reading, or the political structure there?
Or are you being turned by the Internet garbage you are being fed.
In any case, you are supporting the wrong side in this little brouhaha. I suppose the reasons for it matter more to me then the act, because I find it to be a teachable moment, as Limbaugh is fond of saying.
BREAKING: Ukrainian PM, Cabinet resign “after collapse of the coalition.” http://cnn.it/1tFK2Zm
Collapse of Ukrainee Government folds in on itself!
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has announced his resignation,... Fox News confirms.
Yatsenyuk made the announcement from the dais of the parliament after two parties said they would pull out of the governing coalition. “I am announcing my resignation in connect with the collapse of the coalition,” Yatsenyuk said.
He said the parliament could no longer do its work and pass necessary laws.
The nationalist Svoboda party and the UDAR movement led by former boxer Vladimir Klitscho pulled out of the group of legislators that took over after former President Viktor Yanukovich was ousted by protesters seeking closer ties with the European Union.
