Yes I remember. That was another of Perry’s major screw ups that the Perry faithful are willing to overlook.
If Rick Perry was as complicit as you note in the immigration situation today I am glad he has been awakened and seen the light of past actions. However I believe that this latest conundrum was in the making a long time by Obama’s stealth queen Jarett.
“However I believe that this latest conundrum was in the making a long time by Obamas stealth queen Jarett.”
I agree...she probably has more to do with the flood we’re seeing now - but Perry did WAY TOO MUCH to set the tone that we were a friendly state for Illegals...if he had treated them like the lawbreakers that they are, I seriously doubt Jarett would have been nearly as effective in enticing them to come here.
What I’d like to hear now, FROM ANY REPUBLICAN, is something to the effect:
“Keep in mind that once you’re processed, we have your identity and your fingerprints. If you fail to show up to your deportation hearing and then COMPLY with the outcome, under my administration, we will find you and we will send you back - and you will NEVER be permitted to step foot in this country again.”
Unfortunately, I haven’t heard anything but fumbling by the Republicans. They simply don’t have the gonads to take this invasion on directly.
It just seems that since the majority of these people are coming across the border in Texas...most think Texas should be the one to stop it. I just wish folks would focus their anger where it belongs...at the Feds. As I said earlier, these people are being dispersed thru out the country. It will ultimately become all states problems and all governors and state legislatures should be participating in some manner. I fear this recent wave of illegals is only the tip of the iceberg.
As far as Perry presenting himself as a conservative but , yet pandering...of course he does. He's a politician. They ALL pander. If he is, indeed, going to run for president again I think you have few fears about him getting the nomination. His last run will hang over his head like a huge black cloud. I look back for a long way and I don't see that we have had a nominee or someone running for the nomination that was worth a dam* on immigration or border control. Duncan Hunter (from Cal as I recall) was strong. But he got no traction. For that matter...we haven't had an administration that was strong in that regard since IKE.
The fact that you are an engineer is very relevant to this discussion. If you can look at the Texas border, the unfenced areas are very rugged. Aside from the river. And keep in mind that a river's course changes during high and low levels. I would be interested to know how long the border fence in San Diego is...and what the terrain is like.
But sadly, if you choose to answer this post, I won't be able to respond until this weekend. I seldom get on line during the week...my job interferes with my at home internet. It's too exhausting.
