I have drawn my firearm in a local gun store. However, I told the person helping me what I wanted looked at, he said it was ok, and I drew it nice and slow, cleared it in front of him and turned it over. Maybe I just look trustworthy. At another time in another (small mom & pop) store they were very busy and my wife wanted to look at a firearm. The owner told me to come around the counter and show her the firearms while he was off helping someone else. He did say he'd "keep an eye on me" but I've been in shops enough to know the usual routine in showing firearms. I didn't get shot so I must have done ok in his eyes. ;-)
My wife visited one nearby once. She had to convince them to unlock the door and let her in during posted business hours.
It too went out of business...
A friend of mine asked me to look at a S&W 624 .44 Special while we were at a gun show.
Man told me not to handle the gun unless I was buying.
I put the gun back down and started looking at it.
I asked my buddy if he could see why the seller didn’t want me holding the gun to look at it.
When he told me no I showed him a nice gap that had been opened up by some idiot trying to turn a .44 special into a magnum with a Keith handload.
I was very loud and clear the gun was nothing but junk.
Then I started pointing out to my buddy all the other junk on the guys table.
Then others standing there started pointing out other guns that were junk.
Everything on his table was dangerous to shoot if it shot at all.
I don’t know if he just left the show or the guy running the show ran him off for trying to sell off guns he new to be dangerous to shoot, but about an hour later he was gone.
Surprising to me, all of the gun stores near me here in liberal northern Virginia are polite, efficient, and helpful. Some even have good prices, although most everything in this area is expensive. Blue Ridge Arsenal, Nova Armament, and Silver Eagle Group are among the best around here.
Our store allows holstered weapons.
I heard one local retail shop on the radio during the anti-second fiasco of Obama admin, the were basicly all pro registration and only licensed blah blah blah and no mail order anything.
crossed them off the wallet list.
