Well, it is easy to judge over the Internet. But a wise person would keep their idiotic comments (like yours) to yourself.
I guess. I have to wonder how self absorbed the parents are not to see their kids are messed up.
Case in point: my daughter and a neighbor’s son were both diagnosed with a learning disability that affected memorization and reading. Because of my prior mental health issues, I was accepting of the diagnosis. We hired a specialist to give a second opinion. We worked with the schools to help our daughter.
My neighbor was one of those “buck up and try harder” guys. His son was special and could not possibly have any problems. He got no help.
My daughter just graduated from college and has started her physician’s assistants program. His son lies around the house, drunk, and unable to get anything but a minimum wage job—because he never learned the skills to adapt.
My point is that when people who know, tell you your kid is messed up it is wise to at least listen and get another opinion.
Well certainly. That’s a given.
Sell the beemer, invest it then join the military for four years...preferably in an position where you were likely to see combat.
“Nobody is asking about the objects of his therapy..”
The first thing I thought is ‘what medication is he on’? It’s always Zoloft or Paxil or whatever but they never honk on that like they do the gun connection.
Medical journals?
The same medical journals that consider homosexuality to be perfectly normal?
This advice might work for someone who is sane, but wallowing in self-pity.
That was not Elliot Rodger.
Elliot Rodger was never, in fact, rebuffed by girls. He hated and feared girls. He avoided contact with them. Since he never made an advance on a girl, he never had the chance to be rebuffed. He had a very deep seated psychosis, which he was most likely born with. I skimmed through his manifesto; the sickness that was rooted in his brain permeated every word he wrote.
What causes clinical depression? Many times there is a high level of selfishness involved. A victim mentality is based on selfishness. Refusing to take responsibility for one’s choices is selfishness.
I have. But thank you very much anyways.
Good reply.
It looks like I was accusing you of being selfish. I certainly did not mean to do that and I apologize. I have never met you, nor have I interacted with you so I could not make that statement about you. But in my hurry I threw out a statement that in retrospect, looks like I did just that. Again, I am sorry.
The writer was addressing OTHERS who, like Rodgers, are being snubbed by girls. There are plenty of dorky young guys out there who might be awkward but not crazy, and who could benefit from some of this advice which, in a nutshell, is ‘get over yourself.’
>> Yes, but Elliot was crazy.
Yes, mentally ill — what the Left intentionally neglects in order to disturb traditional American values.
