“smug Yankees”. I assume you are referring to liberal Yankees.

Also, just what does the term “Yankee” mean now? Living in Minnesota, some folks call whites who live here “Yankees”. It is meant to be derisive. The majority of white folks here are descendants of 19th century immigrant from Germany, Scandinavia, Poland, etc.

It is a shame that the term has taken on a negative connotation. Yankees used to be honorable folks who died for freedom and abolishment of slavery. I do not think any of today’s modern liberals qualify to assume the title.

The fact is, racism is more widely spread in liberal circles -- political committees, faculty lounges, elite dinner parties, etc. -- than in the those "backwoods pockets". Everywhere the "need" for affirmative action is accepted, there is racism.

All of which tends to confirm the aptness of Mooch's college thesis...

Jim Crow is alive and well. They just changed the word ‘Required” to “Deserve”

As in, You “deserve” black only magazines, clubs, Charmer of commerce, beauty pageants, history month, college funds, etc.

I guess only a backwoods, Southern racist like myself would comment on the racial segregation of liberal policies celebrated by the likes of those enlightened North-Eastern intellectuals. /sarc
