Pistols were in honor of Jean Lafitte, who often made a camp on the Calcasieu River / Lake in Lake Charles. I remember as a kid hearing that doubloons were found while building Lake Charles’s Civic Center, which is on the lake.

Nope. Been to "the valley", Houston area, up to San Antone, Dallas area, on over to El Paso and out to New Mexico.
Not everywhere for sure, but enough to catch its odd and not particularly scenic (and sometimes downright dead) nature.
Like the joke says, you can normally see a long way........

Definitely missed half the State and the better half some of us like to think, although most any part (cept North Houston) beats anywhere else.

Yep, I missed the part that says the northern quarter of the state is half of it. Y'all are just so much smarter than everyone else.....:-)
As to "most any part (cept North Houston) beats anywhere else."...........that's so dumb as a statement, I'm not even prepared to comment on how ridiculous that is. Ignorant is not important to dialogue with.

"Pistols were in honor of Jean Lafitte, who often made a camp on the Calcasieu River / Lake in Lake Charles. I remember as a kid hearing that doubloons were found while building Lake Charless Civic Center, which is on the lake." Thanks.
I've know they were there for years but didn't know why.

I will go out on a limb here, and state that on I 10, Texas is 810 miles from east to west. Or from west to east if you're a democrat.

Last thing anyone needs is a dumb@ss like you who thinks he's God's gift to mankind, and actually is stupid enough to believe it.
And stupid enough to keep posting things to show it over and over again.

Sorry pal, 80 degree windchill here, it's sunny and beautiful, unlike the place you can see further, and less, than anyplace in the world.
Only ignorant, humorless @sswipes like you can't handle the truth of that joke.
I can't wait to see how much you luuuuv that 105 degree summer of yours..........post back to me about that kay?

Keep laughing. It was primarily Texas fracking that gave us independence withTrumps leadership. That’s almost shut down now but you may find we have to call on Texas again, soon.
